A pretty course that will definitely take your mind away from work ! With plenty of palm trees, small elevations changes and some nice holes, next to the two-tone ocean (a bit too dark), this par 72 plays smoothly and offers quite a few challenges, with some well-placed bunkers and a few water hazards. On the front 9, I like the right dogleg par-4 2nd hole, with an uphill tee shot and an approach shot over a deep ditch, filled with deep rough, partially across the fairway, not far from the green, and the scenic right dogleg par-4 4th (a little bit similar to the 2nd), with an uphill second shot over a wide cliff across the fairway, with sand and water at the bottom. The next few dogleg holes are prettier, with the fairways hugging the coastline on the left : the par-4 6th is slightly-uphill, with an undulating fairway, whereas the par-4 7th is slightly-downhill all the way, with a tee shot over part of the ocean, with plenty of deep rough above the beach. The par-3 8th hole is nice too, with a tee shot over a little cove, landing onto the green, with palm trees on the right, and is followed by the very pretty right dogleg par-5 9th, slightly uphill with a tee shot over the ocean branching out inland, and a long approach to the green, with a big elongated lake on the right. You will head back home, starting with the scenic left dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a small hill on the left, an elongated lake on the right, and a second shot over it as its winds its way all the way across in front of the green, and continuing later on with the right dogleg par-4 12th, uphill all the way, with a second shot over that serpentine deep ditch (with a nice little bridge, slightly to the right). Then, after the par-4 15th hole, facing the ocean, with a downhill tee shot and an elevated green, slightly to the right, you will finish with three nice holes : the par-4 16th is slightly-uphill, with a tee shot over the ocean, splitting the fairway, the par-4 17th hole is a left dogleg, facing the ocean, with an uphill tee shot and a slightly-downhill approach to the green (close to the sea on the right), and the par-4 18th is a picturesque left dogleg along the coastline, with a nice uphill approach to the green, and a pretty clubhouse above, with the mountains beyond... With nice plantings and textures, this Santa Isable Golf & Country Club is fun to play and is well-designed, thanks to PCDurum, but it could have looked even better with a more natural color of the ocean !
