A rather dull course, with mostly wide fairways and greens, and with trees looking similar (in height and shape), but it was, apparently, hockeyfreak’s second course only, at that time ! The front 9 is more interesting as water is present on quite a few holes, starting with the par-4 1st, with a second shot over a serpentine river in the direction of the green (slightly to the left), and continuing with the par-3 2nd, with a tee shot over the river again (and with five bunkers behind surrounding the green), and the par-4 3rd, with a tee shot over the river and a green, slightly to the right. Then, after a couple of dogleg holes (left par-4 4th, right par-4 5th), you will need to hit a tee shot over a small creek crossing the fairway on the par-3 6th hole, before facing the dogleg right par-5 7th, with a tee shot over a serpentine creek, and finishing with the par-3 8th, with a tee shot over the river, and the par-4 9th, with a stream winding its way, on the left of the fairway, and over which you will have to hit your approach as it crosses the fairway. The back 9 is not really challenging, but the last two dogleg left par-5 holes will test you, especially the longer 18th, with a second shot over the river running across the fairway. If this Highland Meadows Golf course is not the most exciting one you will ever play (and if it has a couple of flaws – trees planted on the cart path, for example), it runs smoothly and was a good “starting point” for hockeyfreak who went on to design much nicer ones in the following years...

In case you're concerned, hockeyfreak, I played the course for the first time and wanted you to know that Paula Creamer still holds the course record...nice course, I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this course - a decent challenge on expert Gusty Very Dry. I thought it to be a very well finished course. I would agree about a variation of trees, aestheticaly would be nice, but didn't detract from the course. Very well done, for your 2nd release it is already ahead of much of the field.

I played a round on this course and being that it’s only your 2nd design the course played smooth and enjoyable. You show a lot of potential and talent and would benefit greatly by learning more from other architects. This site offers new designers the choice to further there knowledge and ability by asking the best 08 TW Golf Course Designers, questions, instruction and tricks and tips of designing new courses. I want to believe that every architect here on the site is able and willing in sharing valuable information on building the best courses. I owe many architects lots of thanks for the questions and time they afforded me in my quest to build the best possible courses. The learning curve never ends, and each course you build in the future will show your growth and will delight the golfer who plays them. We all ask and take advice on building these courses no matter how many we have build. I say this to all new designer who are wanting to show their true talent, anybody can message me and I will gladly share and help with the advice that I’ve learn from all other designers. Nice course I thoroughly enjoyed the design and layout, runs okay and is a good course as I think its only your 2nd course? My only opinion is that the trees are a bit all the same which makes it a bit dull, but thats only a preference. A mnore mixed Tree line would be an improvement. So look forward to your next!
