This Port Craigie Island course is very pretty with its two-tone blue ocean and scenic layout over a lot of water hazards, and quite challenging, especially on the front 9.
In fact, you will have to be on your toes, right from the start with the right dogleg par-4 1st hole, along a river (on the right) flowing out to the ocean (and with more water behind the green), before moving on to the nice par-3 2nd, with a tee shot over a serpentine river.
The next two holes are left doglegs : on the par-5 3rd, the narrow fairway is framed by trees (on the left) and the ocean (on the right), and you will need to hit a very risky approach toward the green, with two small ponds, front and back to watch for, just like on the par-4 4th where, after a tee shot over trees in the left corner (with wide bunkers right behind), you will have to avoid another small pond, set next to the green (on the left).
Things won’t get any easier on the par-5 5th hole, with a tee shot over a serpentine river (ending midway), and a risk/reward second shot toward the green, framed by two elongated bunkers (front and back) with another river (ending into the ocean) to the left.
Then, after the right dogleg par-4 6th hole, with a tee shot over the river crossing the fairway diagonally and a green, set next to the ocean, you will later on reach my favorite hole, the gorgeous and wide open par-3 9th, with a wide lake and an island green (seen on the picture above).
The back 9 starts in a spectacular way, with the right dogleg par-4 10th hole, as you will have to hit a tough shot over that wide lake (with a lone tree and a covered bridge leading to the island green of the 9th hole, on the right), while enjoying the panoramic view of a small mountain and the ocean further behind, before breathing a little bit easier with the right dogleg par-4 11th, inland, and the par-3 12th hole, along a wide lake all the way to the green, set to the right.
The right dogleg par-4 13th is another hole worth mentioning, with a couple of trees, midway (on the right) and a fairway hugging a river (on the left) over which you will hit your approach to reach the green.
The finishing stretch still has a few tough holes, such as the wide open left dogleg par-5 14th, and its blind approach to the green, and the par-3 16th, with its beautiful green overlooking the ocean (on the right).
Then, after the left dogleg par-4 17th hole, with its tee shot above sparsely-planted trees landing down onto a narrow fairway, and its approach toward a slightly-elevated green, you will complete your round with the par-5 18th, with an elongated lake (to the right) and a small pond (below the green, on the left) and two wide bunkers (on the right) to avoid, before heading for the nice clubhouse...
With this par 72, Alan Portway designed another beautiful course where you will have to choose your clubs carefully if you don't want to get wet. But, before you do, make sure to bring a couple of sweaters as this Port Craigie Island is set in Scotland !

I couldn't get pass the 4th green. Crashed each time I was getting ready to putt. The course is very pretty but if you cannot play it doesn't matter. Hope you debug this thing because it really is a shame to waste all your fine work.

Liked the course, Looks great and testing in spots like landing with water on 2 sides of the green. Played fine never crashed.

To all and Jimbo63

I am very disappointed that after all the effort put into the course it crashes for many of you. I have tried to repair the course several times and nothing comes up as being invalid. Is it worth doing this anyway and compiling again or is there anything else I could do?

I have had the game freeze on me twice. The last time it was on the 3rd hole. Went in the water. Did my drop here thing, the camera view switched to seeing the pin up close and me in the background. I waited for the camera view to switch back to the regular view but was froze there.

Alan the course crashed during my round on holes 5 and 10. It may be worth going back to your last file before you compiled the course and do a repair course to get rid of anything that may be invalid. Sorry I can't think of anything else that might be causing the problem. If you would like to discuss anything please send me a PM

The course crashed twice on me. I like fantasy courses so this was a down fall. what I did see of this course, to have it crash was a shame. Please try again. looking foward to playing it.

I've tried to play the course twice online and both times the game crashed. First time I got through one hole and the next time I made it through 3 holes.

Disconnects no, but I did have a game crash on the last hole virtually on the last putt. But restarted and no problem could have been my system memory or soemthing

Anyone else experiencing frequent disconnects with this course??? The course is extremely well designed...very nice job. Just not sure if the disconnects are a problem.

I liked this one should be more than rated 2 star liked the green textures only glitch was hole 10 a bit unfair for par 4 tricky to get a good fairway position from the tee to m ake in 4 thats my opinion. overall though very nice course.

Excellent design; a beautifully layed out course. Your Oak Hills course is special also. I'm don't understand the ratings since this is one of the better courses recently. I think the fantasy designs sometimes get overlooked. Thanks for the course.
