Another great course, thanks, Holein1 for bringing it to my attention! Enjoyed the round, pitched in for an eagle, elevation and roll was great, course is beautiful, and all and all a round to remember. Thanks, BG, for all your courses, including this gem.

What a better way to finish this year on a happy note with another gorgeous fantasy course from Bgravolicious ? If you want to see a beautiful and rugged landscape with plenty of elevations, rocky terrain, nice sparsely-planted tall trees, undulating and/or sloped fairways and a few well-placed bunkers around some hidden greens, El Mastodon is the place to be ! After a nice right dogleg opening par-4 hole, with a blind and uphill tee shot and a downhill approach to the green (with a small hidden castle further to the left), you will get your first glimpse of the rocks on the left dogleg par-4 2nd, with a downhill tee shot landing near a large rocky area (on the left), filled with a few ponds, and a second shot to the elevated green. The following par-3 3rd hole is very picturesque, with a blind and steep downhill tee shot over one of the big ponds, nestled among the rocks, and is followed by the right dogleg par-4 4th, slightly-uphill all the way and with a slanted and sloped narrow fairway. One of my favorite holes is the long par-5 5th, steeply-uphill all the way and with a very tough (and blind) second shot toward the green, over a big and elongated rocky pool on the left. The 6th hole is another par-5, also steeply-uphill all the way and quite scenic, with a tee shot over a few rocks landing onto an undulating fairway, and with a long and blind second shot toward the green, with a downhill slope as you approach it. If you are in a gambling mood, then you will love the short (around 305 yards) and uphill left dogleg par-4 7th hole, with plenty of rocks on the left side all the way to the elevated green, surrounded by a few bunkers, and quite different from the nice par-3 8th, with a blind tee shot toward the green, partially hidden by trees (with a nice panoramic view), and the steeply-downhill par-4 9th hole, with its beautiful narrow tree-lined undulating fairway that you will discover following your blind tee shot... The back 9 starts with two par-4 holes, more wide-open : on the 10th, you will have to hit your tee shot to the left of a hollow (but shallow) rocky wasteland in the middle of the fairway, before hitting a blind and uphill approach to the green, unlike on the right dogleg 11th, quite short (about 340 yards) and where you might be tempted to cut the corner and go for broke by hitting a powerful downhill tee shot toward the green to avoid the undulating fairway on the left. Then, after the nice and steeply-uphill par-3 12th hole, with some big rocks on the left and behind the green, you will move on to the pretty left dogleg par-4 13th, with a blind and steeply-downhill tee shot landing onto an undulating fairway, and another blind shot to reach the elevated green. The par-4 14th hole, on another hand, is a right dogleg with a blind and downhill tee shot and another blind and uphill approach to the green (with small rocks along on the left, not far from it), and is followed by the left dogleg par-5 15th where, after an uphill tee shot, you will need to hit a blind and steeply-uphill long second shot over another big elongated rocky pool to reach the green ! The steeply-downhill par-3 16th is another beautiful hole, with its slanted fairway all the way to the green, hidden by a few tall trees, and is followed by two wide-open holes, the par-4 17th, downhill all the way, with an undulating fairway split diagonally by a few bunkers, halfway (and more bunkers further to the right), and the par-5 18th hole, steeply uphill to the green, slightly to the left. Needless to say, with this El Mastodon fantasy course, BGravolicious designed another gem that you should hurry to download... even if you will have aches and pain all over after walking up and down all the way from the 1s tee to the 18th green !

Another brilliant creation from BG - fascinating layout, perfect level of challenge (I hobbled home at -1 on dry/breezy and was more than happy with that) and it plays smooth and realistic - a joy throughout. Amongst many highlights, I think my fave hole was the par 3 16th - a real gem. This is top notch designing, cheers!

After experiencing Bee Gee's Wolf Creek, I had to try one of his fantasy courses - and this one is another 5* experience!
Looking at previous comments, thought I should try to come up with a word that hasn't yet been used to describe this course, but would put it in a nutshell - that word is "manicured"...

I love this course, extremely well done. But I have yet to hear The call of the Mastodon. I do hear the various wildlife on other courses. I wonder if there's some sound library needed that CDL isn't serving up?

BG, an absolutely stunning course! The rock work is amazing! The entire course is so smooth, it is a fantastic adventure to play. The attention to detail is some of the best I have ever seen. Amazing job!! This course deserves a 5 star rating and that's what I gave it.. What an imagination you have, and talent with CA..

Well where do you start with this one? Super course smooth running played badly as too busy looking around aty the view, every hole you think whats around the corner great trees prehistoric looking almost think that "El Beast" might walk out at any moment. God help you if you hit the rockpools (err lakes actually) Superb! a keeper, better than sex...oh well maybe not that good...got carried away there for a moment! 5 stars for me.

Excellent design with great detail to trees, water, rocks, elevation and greens. This course along with Revelation and Western Lodge are in the top designs for TW08 from this designer; thanks for the work.
