No, this is not another umpteenth sequel by Sylvester Stallone !
Instead, this is a pretty good (and first !) course, designed by... Rambo909plyr08, offering a lot of elevation changes, smooth textures for the fairways and greens, nice snow-capped mountains as a panorama, and quite a few short risk/reward holes where you will have to think twice before hitting some of your shots.
This par 72 is not too difficult with a lot of wide fairways and greens but, with plenty of holes quite short, you can have some bad surprises if you choose the wrong clubs...
Case in point : after a nice, but easy, opening right dogleg par-4 1st, with the mountains facing the tee, you will play three short holes in a row : the straight par-4 2nd (about 290 yards), with a blind downhill tee shot and a bunker in front of the green, with a steep slope on the left, the par-4 3rd hole, even shorter (about 245 yards), with a blind and very steep downhill tee shot over a hollow wasteland, and the right dogleg par-5 4th (about 420 yards), with trees in the corner and two shots uphill to reach the wide-open green, where you should be able to putt for an eagle.
The par-3 5th hole is similar to the 3rd, but with a downhill tee shot not as steep, and is followed by the short (about 420 yards) right dogleg par-5 6th hole (similar to the 4th), but where you can hit your tee shot through the tall trees in the corner to have a clearer view of the green.
Another risk/reward hole is the straight and short (about 290 yards) par-4 7th, with a little downhill slope near the green to watch for.
The last two holes are quite nice : on the par-3 8th, you will need to hit a blind downhill tee shot over a small mound with a deep hollow wasteland below, filled with plenty of bushes, in order to reach the green, whereas on the left dogleg par-5 9th hole, quite... long (more than 600 yards), your steep downhill tee shot will land near a few trees in the middle of the fairway, surrounded by a big bunker all across, and will be followed by a very tough second shot to try to reach the green, far away, and guarded by two bunkers in front.
The back 9 starts with, guess what, two more short holes : the right dogleg par-4 10th (about 290 yards), with a small hill on the left side and plenty of trees on the right, making it impossible to cut the corner, and an elevated green, and the par-3 11th hole (less than 130 yards), with a blind downhill tee shot.
The left dogleg par-4 12th hole is worth mentioning too with its downhill tee shot landing on an undulating green, and its uphill shot to the green, partially hidden by trees on the left side, just like the par-3 14th, where you will need to hit a very steep (and blind) uphill tee shot to fly over two bunkers to reach the wide green.
One of my favorite holes is the par-4 15th, with a steep downhill tee shot landing on an undulating fairway (with a big bunker across midway through) and its uphill green, with the nice mountains to look at.
Then, after the long par-5 16th hole, downhill with a tough second shot trying to reach the green, and the par-3 17th, with an uphill green and a nice panoramic view, you will conclude your round with the... short (about 490 yards) par-5 18th hole, with a big bunker (with flowers around) across the fairway halfway, and a slightly-uphill approach shot to the green, near the clubhouse behind.
Needless to say, for a first course, Pacific Crest is quite impressive and, even though it is not the hardest one you will play, this could be the beginning of a nice designing story for... Rambo909plyr08 !

I love courses with a lot of vertical. This one has that along with excellent scenery and layout. Clubbing seems to be pretty accurate with respect to vertical adjustment. Try it, you'll love it!
