If you want to see what a pretty public course could look like, then take a... look at this wide open par 72, very “Wells (Joe)” designed, with sparse but colorful trees, undulating fairways (along with a few tricky greens), a couple of meandering creeks (mostly on the front 9), a smooth country road with electric poles (and power lines !) and beautiful isolated homes (coming back), and some nice rocky textures used for small walls and for supporting... benches. Water comes into play on the first few holes with the opening par-4 along a creek on the right, requiring a second shot over it to reach the green, just like on the straight par-3 2nd, before moving later on to the challenging right dogleg par-5 4th hole, slightly-uphill all the way, with an undulating fairway, trees in the corner and four greenside bunkers to watch for. Then, after hitting a tee shot over a big pond on the pretty par-3 5th hole, I also like the straight par-5 7th, slightly-uphill all the way, with a nice and small rocky plateau along on the far right, and the par-4 9th, above it, quite picturesque, with a nice fence all along the fairway on the left. The back 9 has quite a few holes next to a winding road that you will first see far away on the par-3 11th, with a nice panoramic view of the countryside (beyond the green), and then closer as you reach the greens of the right dogleg par-4 12th hole, and the even prettier left dogleg par-5 13th, next to some beautiful homes. Following the scenic and short par-3 14th hole, downhill to the green, next to the road on the left, you will move on to the nice right dogleg par-4 15th, slightly uphill all the way, with trees partially hiding the fairway in the corner, before enjoying the view on the right dogleg par-5 16th hole, quite eye-candy with its fairway, slightly above a tiny rocky plateau on the right, bordered by a nice zigzagging fence, and the road on the left. Last, but not least, the picturesque right dogleg par-4 18th hole will offer you one last challenge, with an uphill tee shot landing onto an undulating fairway, and a delicate approach shot toward the green, close to a big pond on the right side. With its beautiful and peaceful countryside, this Rostraver Public Golf course is delightful to watch and fun to play and Joe Wells did a great job, designing it, as you will find out after downloading it...

It's hard to believe that this is a fantasy course. Your attention to detail is excellent. Beginning with the single lane road w/white stripe, telephone poles w/wires,clapboard siding on the houses it is a thing of beauty. Oh by the way, the course plays smoothy too. (LOL) It's a keeper and thanks for creating it.

Green textures are the best with the 150 pegs a nice touch. The yardage is probably a bit long but none the less a very good test.

Nice clean course, very good detail work, I really like the textures too, they do not create any lag!

No, it's a completely fictional course, and a beautiful one at that.

I've always enjoyed every rendition of this course. It does indeed look like a public course you would see in Anytown, USA. Thanks for the 08 update Joe.
