Great layout and pleasing on the eye, holds up well to advanced/very dry/ difficult pins etc for more spice lol, many thanks once again to one of the top designers for all the hard work that these beauties must take.

As its name suggests, this par 72 has a lot of pine trees, unlike Quietly’s two previous ghost of the Sands Desert courses and is quite hilly, with undulating fairways, some water hazards and a few tough approaches to the greens, often guarded by wide bunkers. My favorite holes on the front 9 are the right dogleg par-4 2nd, with its pretty approach over a small elongated pond halfway around the green in front, the par-3 4th hole, with its tee shot over a shallow sandy area, landing onto the green, at the bottom of a big hill, the long left dogleg par-5 6th, with its uphill tee shot and slanted fairway, split across in the middle by plenty of sand (and its slightly-uphill green, impossible to reach on your second shot), and the scenic par-3 7th, with a tee shot over more sand, with a wide bunker in front of the green and a big elongated lake behind, with pine trees on its left bank. On the back 9, the right dogleg par-4 10th hole offers an unusual sight with plenty of... lamp posts all along a walking path below some big hills on the left, and an uphill approach to the green. I also like the gorgeous par-3 12th hole, with a tee shot over a wide lake landing onto the green, surrounded by pine trees and, to a lesser extent, the right dogleg par-4 13th hole, with a downhill tee shot over more sand, with quite a few wide bunkers in the middle, halfway, and a second shot to the elevated green, with more bunkers in front. If you are hungry or thirsty, then you should head for the vending machine below on the right of the tee box on the par-3 14th hole, before admiring its pretty downhill panoramic view, and its green, framed by two bunkers (front and back) with a small pond on the left. On the left dogleg par-5 15th hole, nice with small hills all along on the left, you might be able to putt for an eagle, after hitting two blind shots (uphill, then downhill over some sand across) to reach the green further away, guarded by two wide bunkers on the right. Then, after the wide right dogleg par-4 16th hole where you have a choice of two fairways to land your tee shot (down to the left or up - and easier - to the right), before aiming your approach to the elevated green, you will move on to the last two holes, quite short but beautiful... As you face the right dogleg par-5 17th hole, you will have another eagle opportunity if, after hitting your blind tee shot landing near a wide lake on the right, you can manage to reach its elevated green, guarded by two bunkers in front. You will finish with the left dogleg par-4 18th hole, where you will need to hit a tee shot over plenty of sand (with pine trees on a hilltop on the left), hopefully landing between a wide bunker, midway on the left, and a wide lake on the right (with a little “thank you” message in the middle of it !), before aiming your last shot toward the elevated green, close to a big pond behind, with three more bunkers to worry about in front, on the left... With his third (and last) Ghost of the Sands desert course, Quietly came up, once again, with another beautiful course, quite different with more trees and greenery but still challenging enough, even though this Pines course is the "easiest" of the three !

Quietly produced Desert Hawk, Desert Pines and Desert Wraith in his Ghost of the Sands series, and all of them are favorites of mine, and the fact that they are fantasy courses makes this even more amazing. Quietly's fantasy courses play like real courses, they are not gimmicked up, and Desert Pines lives up to that, fair play and a great looking course. If you miss this one, or all of them, you are missing a great course.

The usually quality job by one of the finest students of the game, excellent Job Quietly, very nice indeed, also some nice new objects, sounds and textures, for all us designers to play with down the track.

Let me say this loudly, another fantastic course by Quietly. Anybody looking for a great Par 3 course, check out Quietly's "Mapleton Hills" for 07. It works perfect in 08 and I think it is one of the best Par 3 courses to date. I'll be watching for your next release, thanks man.
