A gorgeous and very close (and sharp-looking !) mountainous panorama, with colorful trees, and a course quite challenging with plenty of holes, slightly downhill, and some tough twisted doglegs with a few narrow approaches to the greens. This par 72 plays beautifully but demands accuracy and patience and you better take a look at the fly-by option often before teeing off. The right dogleg par-5 1st hole is an awesome way to start, with the fairway following the river all the way downhill to the green, with water in front and trees around, and is followed by the nice left dogleg par-4 2nd, with the river, this time on the right side. The par-3 3rd hole is straight with a tee shot over a lake to reach the green, surrounded by a few bunkers, whereas the par-4 4th is gorgeous (and tough) as it is slightly downhill, with a fairway twisting right, left, then right between two big ponds and a slightly-uphill approach shot to the green ! The downhill par-5 5th hole is nice too with a rollercoaster and sloped fairway, big rocks on both sides midway through and a big pond in front of the green. Then, after the right dogleg par-4 6th hole, with a very narrow fairway as you reach the green, you will reach the par-3 7th, slightly downhill over the river with a couple of bunkers around and a nice panoramic view... unfortunately “spoiled” (at least with TW07 !) with a big grainy patch between the layout and the panorama. The right dogleg par-4 8th hole is pretty and tough, with trees in the right corner as you tee off and a big pond further to the right, high rocks across midway through and an uphill green, hidden by trees, unlike the par-4 9th, with a twisted fairway all the way downhill to the green, clearly visible on your approach shot. The back 9 starts with the right dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a lone tree in the middle of the fairway and a few bushes, a little bit further, and continues with the downhill par-3 11th, with a small pond across in front of the green (with a grainy patch behind !). The par-5 12th hole has a twisted and slightly-downhill sloped fairway with some big rocks across midway through, making your blind approach shot to the green quite tough, with a big bunker in front, on the right. After the par-4 13th hole, with another fairway (and grainy patches on the side) twisting right, then left toward the green, slightly downhill (quite tough to reach with high trees in the corner), the left dogleg par-5 14th is quite tricky : with a few rocks, trees and a small pond “following” each other in the left corner, you better play it safe on your second shot and hit it to the right to make your approach shot to the green less risky... The following par-3 15th hole is nice with a downhill slope and a u-shaped pond behind around the green (with another grainy patch way behind), just like the par-4 16th, with a slightly-uphill tee shot landing on a fairway turning left, then right, toward the sloped green, with a small pond on the right side, midway through. As for the right dogleg par-4 17th hole, it is quite picturesque with a downhill fairway between a big pond on the right and high rocks on the left, and a narrow green, with another big rock right behind it... unlike the right dogleg par-4 18th, rather “easy” compared to other holes. The Reaper is a great course but, unfortunately, the picture illustrating it and the lack... of pictures showing a few holes, may discourage a lot of potential players. As for the grainy bugs, it might not occur with TW08 but the only way to find out is to download it. But before you do, why don't you play the song "Don't fear the reaper" by the Blue Oyster Cult to put you in the mood ?
