A nice little course, not overly difficult or spectacular, but it plays smoothly, with some pretty snow-capped mountains and some unusual shapes of trees, not to mention various kinds of cacti which, unfortunately, look too bright and too flat, at times... On the front 9, I like the right dogleg par-4 2nd hole, with a tee shot over high grass and trees and a second shot over a wide lake toward the green (with a big bunker in front), and the dogleg par-5 3rd, bending sharply to the right, with two blind shots, with the second one landing past a big sandy area, splitting the fairway, midway. Then, after the par-3 4th hole, with its green set on a rocky plateau with two small elongated bunkers (front and back) to watch for, you will face the nice par-4 5th, with a fairway, split halfway by a lake, over which you will have to hit your approach to reach the other parallel fairway (further to the left) and the small green, surrounded by four small bunkers. Two other noteworthy holes are the par-3 7th, with a tee shot over high grass landing onto a peninsula green, with a small bunker on the left to contend with, and the very long (almost 650 yards in tournament mode !) right dogleg par-5 9th, with a second shot over a lake, splitting the fairway diagonally, making it impossible to reach the green. The back 9 starts with the picturesque par-4 10th hole, with a blind tee shot over an elongated lake across the fairway and then flowing all along to the right, and ending next to the elevated green, and is followed by the par-3 11th, with a tee shot over plenty of sand landing onto an elevated green. The par-3 14th hole is also pretty and challenging, with a tee shot over a few trees and a big cactus, and an undulating green (surrounded halfway by water behind), just like the long par-5 15th, with a tee shot over more deep rough and a tough second shot over a lake (splitting the fairway), landing onto the green, with a big bunker in front to deal with. You will then need to hit two blind shots on the par-4 16th hole, the first one over some isolated trees, and the second one past an elongated lake (on the left) to reach the green, surrounded halfway by more water, before walking over to the pretty and tough par-5 17th, with a blind and uphill tee shot over a few trees landing onto a heavily-sloped fairway, winding its way to the left (next to an elongated lake) and then to the right, and a green, hard to reach on your long (and risky) second shot with a small pond (in front, to the right) and a bunker, guarding it. Last, but not least, the par-4 18th hole will offer you an unusual sight, with two parallel “up-and-down” fairways (with the one on the left, starting midway), split by a big elongated sandy area, leaving you with a choice of hitting your tee shot either left or right, in order to get a better shot toward the green. If this Outlaws Desert course does not pretend to be the best one ever, it has some pretty views and a few challenging holes (with some elevation, blind shots and/or water hazards) and you should not feel guilty, at the end, of breaking the... law by playing it, as this par 72 is part of the 10 or so Outlaws courses, designed by Bbmayo1 !
