Excellent design and course. Really liked the layout here, it's mostly traditional with the addition of significant undulation detail - maybe at times a bit unnaturally so? - and there's excellent variety throughout. The difficulty is well-balanced and thus enjoyment never wanes. I loved the green shaping (a little sluggish though on dry) and you have to plan your approaches with care. A treat to the eye (the pano grew on me), it plays beautifully, all up this is a great design. Cheers!

A beautiful course, combining a big city skyline with nice villas on the bay (and near a few holes), (very) blue ponds and small lakes, lush vegetation and plenty of undulated fairways and elevated greens.
This par 71 is delightful to watch and play and it starts with the panoramic view on the par-4 1st hole, with a downhill tee shot and an elevated green and continues with the long par-5 2nd (more than 600 yards) and its big undulated fairway.
After the pretty par-3 3rd hole and its downhill green, and a couple of more doglegs, the right dogleg par-4 8th hole is worth mentioning with its small lake on the right side and its elevated green.
But the "cutest" hole might be the straight par-4 9th, with a downhill slope as you get close to a small pond (not far from the green) and where you will see a... small step-stone bridge in the middle !
The back 9 is quite picturesque too with more doglegs, undulated fairways and elevated greens, such as on the par-4 10th and par-5 11th holes. But my favorite hole, however, is the gorgeous par-3 13th, with its elevated green and nice vegetation (below and around) with... little steps to go up to reach the green and admire a little gazebo on the left side and a small lake on the right !
After the left dogleg par-5 15th hole and its little stream running along on the right side, the par-3 16th hole will offer you a nice view, again, of the gazebo (on the right) and of a small lake on the left side and villas on the bay shore, beyond the green.
As for the straight par-4 18th hole, it is quite pretty too with its downhill tee shot, villas on the right side and again behind the uphill green.
With a beautiful landscape, great plantings, superb elevation work and nice attention paid to details, this course is a definite keeper and one of Wizards' best, even if I had a few reflection problems on some ponds and lakes... probably due to the TW07 version ; however, seeing very blue ponds and lakes (for a change !) was a nice surprise and it easily overshadowed that little displaying bug...

Playing some earlier released courses, I thought this one could have been of the "masterpiece standard" if it was not partly spoiled by those terrible skyscrapers in the panorama.
Maybe another version with ocean or mountain or hill view? (other panorama)
I'm looking forward to that...
Still an "excellent voting"!

Thanx for the comments guys, this was really a spur of the moment design recreated from an old plot that i had managed to salvage off an old hard drive and decided to play around with it a bit.

Putt, i understand your feeling about the pano, it is a bit out of scale in relation to the course but i wanted a cityscape and this was the best i could find. There are others but they are too distant.

If you want i can do a special edition for you maybe with a gentle rolling English countyside (lol)

We all have our favorite designers. I do not take any offense to the fact that lauren's favorites do not include me.

Rowan, I feel this course is extremely underrated... a 5 star effort in my book.

The groundwork is excellant.,the pano is good.,but I am lukewarm about the overall combination as in my honest opinion the skyscraper pano does not suit the course., but peoples opinions vary so I would recommend a download.

I was referring to the second line of his comments and if I have understood wrongly then I apologise, but it appears to me that the second line is derogatory to those designers who are not as good, as the elite others!

Perhaps I should not stick up for those designers that don't score 4+, but I do play and enjoy their courses also!

Cheers

Gova - When is stating a personal, non-derogatory opinion and complimenting the designer and ignorant comment? I have not read in his comments anything tactless at all. He is just complimenting Wizards ad stating his personal opinions.

Probably right up their with the most ignorant comment I have heard!

I agree this is a very well designed course and my salute to the designer, but your comments are out of order and completely tactless for those designers who toil to produce the courses, even though do not reach the elite standards, most of us enjoy playing their courses anyway. It is called "courtesy"!

I would love to see whether you are man enough to reply and whether you have attempted to design a course or maybe you should attend a course in "diplomacy"!

Cheers
Brian

After inspecting every top rated (4+) course on this excellent website (i.e., coursedownloads.com), as opposed to the abundance of amateurish, mediocre or poor courses also listed there, I have come to the conclusion that Wizards, PGAX Design Team, and Homeboy have the best offerings, and that The Bluff Country Club TW 08 course by your design team -- Wizards -- is the shining star above every other TW 08 course. In fact, if you were to match this course in layout ang graphical mastery in any other TW 08 course, I would be glad to pay for it. So please, get busy and challenge yourself to again rise to the top. And do keep me posted, PLEASE (laurentgrenier@rogers.com)!

Super course Rowan.

The elevation work is top notch. The detail with the houses, paths and walkways really add to the overall atmosphere.

Favorite hole was #9, a real beauty.
