Well, after Carleigh Lakes, I decided to stop at Carson Ridge and, needless to say, I was not disappointed either ! This par 72 is quite different and much easier than Big Slick's previous course, but it is very well designed and quite pretty to look at, with small mountains and a few lakes as a panorama and nice plantings. Unlike Carleigh Lakes where you have to be very careful about the numerous water hazards all along, this course has wide-open fairways and just a few ponds near the greens. On the front 9, I like the par-4 1st hole, slightly to the left, with a downhill tee shot and a little pond on the right of the green, the par-5 4th, with its nice panoramic view from the tee box, its downhill tee shot and blind uphill approach shot to the green, and the par-4 6th hole, with a rollercoaster fairway and a blind approach shot to the green, slightly to the right. The left dogleg par-5 9th hole is also quite nice with a heavily-slanted fairway and a steep uphill blind approach shot to the green, with a small pond and a bunker to the left in front of it ! The back 9 has a few nice holes too : the left dogleg par-4 11th has a big pond on the left, near the tee box, an uphill blind shot to the downhill green and another small pond on the left, whereas the par-5 12th hole has a nice panoramic view and meandering path, with a small pond on the left side of the slanted fairway, and a tough and long approach shot to the green, with another small pond in front of the green on the left. After the nice par-3 13th hole, where you will need to hit a blind tee shot to reach the slightly downhill green (with a big pond in front of it), you will have a chance for an eagle on the short (less than 350 yards) par-4 16th hole, with a nice downhill view toward the green, before completing your round with the left dogleg par-4 18th, with a slanted fairway and a couple of ponds on the left side. If you need to relax and enjoy a stress-free round of golf, Carson Ridge is the place to be : with breathtaking views and wide fairways, you will have a ball playing over there, thanks to Big Slick's nice designing work !
