A nice little course, with plenty of trees, water hazards, a few rocks and quite a few scenic and challenging holes. The front 9 starts with the short (less than 280 yards) and slightly uphill dogleg par-4 1st hole where, despite the trees on the right side, you should be able to reach the green with your tee shot, and is followed by the nice right dogleg par-5 3rd, with a river across midway through and a very long uphill shot toward the green with a lake around it. After the par-3 4th hole, and its tee shot over a wide lake, you will reach the very interesting par-4 5th, with a river on the left side, small trees in the middle of the fairway on both sides (quite an unusual sight !), and an elevated green, slightly to the left. The par-5 6th hole is quite nice, with its meandering river flowing across midway and then to the right of the elevated green (with big rocks in front), but the short par-4 7th is even more picturesque (and quite tricky) as you will have to hit shots over the water twice to reach the green, set at the bottom of a tiered rocky and wooded hill ! The par-4 8th hole is not overly difficult but, with big trees in the middle, you will have to decide if you want to hit your tee shot to the left or the right to have a clear view of the flag, while laying off a little bit to avoid bunkers (on the left) or bushes (on the right). On the back 9, I like the short (less than 470 yards), but nice, right dogleg par-5 11th hole, with a river across midway and an elevated green on a rocky plateau, the gorgeous downhill par-3 12th, with its blind tee shot towards an island green (and its nice small rocky retaining wall around it), and the short (about 310 yards) and very sharp dogleg par-4 13th hole (to the right) over a very wide lake. The par-5 15th hole is not overly dificult but looks nice, with a tiny creek across the fairway and a small bunker a little bit further, and the river to the left side, flowing nearby the green, just like the par-3 16th hole, very picturesque with a small lake on the left near the tee box, trees on a tiered rocky plateau on the left side of the green, and the river to the right. As for the last two left dogleg par-4 holes, they are "easy" : the 17th requires a tee shot over the river and a blind approach shot to the elevated green, whereas the 18th needs two more uphill shots to reach the small clubhouse. If Savage Hills is not as ferocious as it may sound, krbushee designed a very pretty course which plays smoothly and that you should definitely try to... tame !
