A pretty course from ron717, not too difficult but with a beautiful blue ocean as a panorama, nice plantings (with various kinds of trees) and plenty of lakes and sand all along. It starts with the nice par-4 1st hole, with an elongated lake on the right of the fairway (with a big bunker next to it) halfway, and a green, slightly to the right, and continues with the par-4 2nd, with a tee shot over a very wide and elongated lake and a green, slightly to the left. The par-3 3rd hole is very picturesque, with a wide bunker across in front of the tee box extending all the way to the left of the green, next to a nice villa overlooking the ocean. Then, after the par-4 4th hole, with a tee shot over a lake and a green, slightly to the right, you will reach the short (about 470 yards) dogleg par-5 5th, with an undulating fairway and a big bunker in the right corner next to a wide lake, before finishing the front 9 with three nice holes. The par-5 7th is a sharp left dogleg, with an elongated lake in the corner and ending near the green, the par-4 8th is a right dogleg, with a few bunkers and trees in the corner midway through, and a lake on the left (near the green), and the par-4 9th hole follows the lake bending to the right. The back 9 has more sand and wider greens, starting with the par-4 10th hole, with sand all along the left side of the undulating fairway, next to the lake, and a green, slightly to the left. After two straight holes, the par-3 11th, with a tee shot over a small lake and a bunker right in front of the small green, and the par-4 12th, with an approach shot over more water, you will reach the right dogleg par-5 13th hole, where you will need to hit a long approach shot to reach the green, guarded by a big bunker in front. Other holes worth mentioning are the par-4 15th which follows the lake on the right, and the par-4 16th hole, with a big bunker in front, and to the right of a small green, surrounded halfway by trees. As for the par-5 18th hole, it is very pretty with sand all along the undulating fairway on the left side and partially across midway through, and a green, slightly to the left. While not as spectacular or challenging as rlslay' tropical courses, Conch Island is very enjoyable and one of ron717's best designs and a definite keeper in my book...
