Another imaginative and challenging course from Chimaera Design, with some undulated and (at times) narrow fairways, elevation changes (with a couple of blind shots... over a couple of small buildings !), and quite pretty with beautiful lakes (filled with a few reeds) and stone medieval-like structures to gaze at and... watch for ! After the nice and straight opening par-4 hole, quite unusual with a high stone wall all across the fairway, midway, over which you will need to hit your approach to reach the downhill green, you will move on to the scenic par-3 2nd, with its wide lake and its sloped green, before heading for the very difficult dogleg left par-5 3rd, with an undulated fairway, where you can forget about getting an eagle with a blind third shot needed to reach its elevated green. Another unusual sight awaits you on the dogleg right par-4 4th hole, with a tee shot over a rotunda-shaped building, before facing the par-3 5th, with its green set next to that rotunda (on the right). Then, after two easier holes (dogleg left par-4 6th and the par-4 7th), you will need to hit another tee shot over that wide lake on the par-3 8th, before finishing with the straight and long par-5 9th, with two stone walls across the fairway, far apart (both with stone ramps) and a big rectangular pond, surrounded by stoned arches on the left below the fairway. You will start your way home, back the other way with the dogleg left par-4 10th hole, with a tee shot over that pond and a nice green, surrounded halfway by a small amphitheater, then move on to the tough and pretty dogleg right par-5 12th, with a downhill tee shot landing onto a fairway, quite narrow (with an elongated bunker, on the left, and trees on the banks of a wide lake, on the right), leaving you with an almost-impossible second shot if you want to reach its peninsula green. The par-4 13th hole is not only spectacular, bending very sharply to the right around a wide lake, it is also quite risky (as you may be tempted to try to reach the green with your driver), and is followed by the dogleg right par-4 14th, with a wide lake (on the right) and a blind and steeply-uphill approach over a U-shaped small building (and its small garden) to get to the wide green, further behind ! Finally, after the straight par-4 15th hole, and its tee shot landing short of a wide stream linking two small lakes (on both sides), and the dogleg left par-4 16th, with a downhill tee shot over an elongated lake landing between bunkers on both sides of the fairway, midway (and with an elevated green), you will complete your round with the dogleg right par-4 17th hole, with a tee shot over a stone wall and ramp landing downward to the fairway (with a blind and downhill approach to the green), and the straight par-4 18th, with a tee shot downward a narrow tree-lined and undulated fairway, before aiming your last approach toward its elevated green. With its nice plantings and interesting layout, not to mention its (sometimes) tricky shots, this par 72 is a very enjoyable fantasy course and a nice tribute to Stormy, thanks, again, to Chimaera Design's creativity (even though I did not see a single deer around, as mentioned by ChadLegend) !

Very fun shot thinking course. I like this type of course having to place your shots over buildings and streams. Great job!

Really enjoyed this one Jimi, your work with the structures is sweet...as usual.. It's a Keeper! I was doing pretty good until I got to the 7th (I think) green.... nice job, I couldn't read the break on that thing to save my life.. lol.. finished that one with a +3... :( Sorry to hear about the crash/freeze for PhilT, I had no problems with it though, played very smooth and no lag..

Jimi, yes I realise some would love this course, firing over buildings comment was only really tongue in cheek by me! Yes I got brave and smashed my Tee shot to the pin on the 13th....actually no I chickened out and aimed it to the left for safety! Only one serious problem I came quite close to one of the stone ramps and it was clearly 10yds or so away it still came up "nplayable" and i had to drop a shot, and I had enough clearance to make it over the wall. Cannot remember which hole that was now, but maybe if one gets so close to any of those ramps this will happen? maybe others have had that happen, really tough greens as well!

Phil, sorry you had comp prblms with this one. As for the other thing, I did this course by request and they asked to make it a bit like Central Park from 07, which involved a lot of shots over bridges and other structures, as far as I rememeber. Normally I'm not that keen on these kinds of blind shots, but I think they came out alright here. It's not like the 17th on St Andrews, where you have just a narrow strip of fairway to land your ball. I made the fairways fairly generous in those areas. I like the 13th. It's a par 4, but you can go for the green in one across the water, if you're brave enough.

This one froze my comp twice, hole1 I got an eagle firing over the wall straight in! but I am not sure about teeing off over buildings! and hole 14 if you were in the back garden doing some weeding you might get a golf ball in the earhole! But a nice course but maybe not my cup of Tea, might grow to like it later.

A fantastic course Jimi! The structure work is amazing...The terrain work is such a challenge..A perfect mixture of Fantasy meeting Reality! I lost count of all the deer grazing in the rough, which will certainly help with maintenance costs! Great...Great course!
