Well, Chimaera Design did it again, coming up with another theme course, this time, referring to the Lords of the Rings movie as you will find out looking at the various structures built along this wide open par 72. After admiring the nice mountains in the background, you will first notice the round tee markers with the Hobbit’s face in the middle, before teeing off on the par-4 1st hole, with its green, slightly to the left, and a serpentine creek flowing behind. As you get ready to tee off on the par-4 2nd hole, you will see far away... the Sauron’s Tower Barad-dûr (Mordor in the Middle Earth), before walking over to the par-3 3rd hole, nice with its small stone arch, midway over the cart path (on the right) and its small lake on the opposite side, ending near the undulated green. Two dogleg right holes await you (with the par-4 4th and the tougher par-5 5th, with a long and blind approach toward the green, hidden by trees), before facing the short and straight par-4 6th, with an undulated fairway and two big bunkers, left and further to the right, not far from the green, hard to reach with your driver. But the best has yet to come, with the pretty par-3 7th hole, with a creek, winding its way across the fairway, in front of the green, and a cute small stone house with a water mill (on the left), and the dogleg left par-4 8th, with a small lake, midway on the left, flowing into a creek, winding its way across the fairway and ending into another lake near the green (on the right), and over which you will have to hit your approach. After another look at that majestic tower on the straight par-4 9th hole, set behind its elevated green, you will start your way back with the nice dogleg right par-5 10th hole, with a blind and downhill tee shot landing onto a rollercoaster fairway, and a green, set above a lake (on the right), and continue with the dogleg left par-4 11th, with a downhill tee shot along trees (on the left), and an elevated green, before facing the spectacular dogleg right par-4 12th, with a tricky tee shot landing short of a rocky and elongated island green, set near a small rocky cliff, halfway around. You will then see part of the Hobbit’s village on the par-4 13th hole (to the right of the tee box), before moving over to the tough par-3 14h, with a blind tee shot over trees needed to reach its elevated and bumpy green. Last, but not least, the dogleg right par-4 17th hole, with its blind tee shot over deep rough landing downward onto a slanted fairway and uphill approach to its elevated green (with that big tower further behind) will challenge you, one more time, just like the dogleg left par-4 18th, with a heavily-undulated fairway and a blind approach toward its steeply-elevated and undulated green... In the end, as usual, Chimaera Design’s imagination takes us into another fantasy world (both in his comments and layouts) and this Helm’s Deep course is a fitting tribute to his talent, as it is quite enjoyable and challenging, at times, with its small elevation changes, water hazards and elevated greens.

I'm new to all this stuff, and haven't mess around with many fantasy courses yet, but after downloading this course. I will definitely be trying out more of your work. Loved this course, and the models you made where very cool indeed. Lord of the Rings is one of my favorite stories of all time, and it was really cool to play a course with that theme. Something I'd never see in real life most likely, but you brought this world to me with this creation.
Thanks alot for your hard work Squirrely
I need to calm down with downloading these courses here on this site. I download some, and never get to them because I get confused with what courses I've played so far. So I'll just start over, and I just need to play through one courses at a time, but it's like being in a candy store for me with all these courses to try out........hehehe Need to start a notebook with the courses I've played so I don't get all confused.......:P

I just d/l the course and all I can say is - wow!! Fantastic piece of work, really enjoyable. I've only played the back 9 but have two observations for you. Hole 11 - can't see shot results on hole map overview and the listed distances on the card is wrong as it shows all tees at the same distance. Otherwise a small masterpiece. Thanks!

Loved this course. Great look and feel. Strutures are very well done and unique. Beware. Playing this course can become Hobbit forming.

Nice adventure, Will there be an add on course in Minas Tirith? I'm just glad there are no Nazgul's flying around or that big eye in the sky watching to see if I get A good shot or not. Anyway great job on the course looks good. I forgot to ask do the orc's caddie?
