As far as fantasy courses go, this is a tough one. I liked the fact that you have to think out your tee shot & your 2nd, i dont know the 1st thing about course design so i apologise if my comments sound stupid, all i know is this course suited me because of the tightness of the fairways, and the greens were not stupidily over-exagerated when you got there
Thanx Wizz.

Norm, if that is all you are going for in your designs, that is easy, man. I can build a course that nobody could play par or better (even predator) with one hand tied behind my back and the other in my pocket. The trick is in making your courses hard and realistic at the same time. That takes skill and skill requires practice. Of course if you only play novice mode on normal greens, you'll always have a decent score. Try expert and very dry for a challenge, lol. Seriously, if you build a course that is very hard to play in the lower expertise settings, you may make it totally unplayable for players who play expert. And that is a shame, really.

Hi Wizzputter, i would just like to say that i played the front 9 with a couple of buddy's and this is a very nice course...like the narrow fairways and the trees.... u have to be able to shape your shots and that's alright with me .....keep up the good work bud ..if ypu can't shape your shots or u edge then u better stay away from this 1

Norm, I didn't mean the amount of elevation per se. I have done worse myaelf, lol. What I mean is the way it looks, just like a mound of dirt that somebody shoveled up there. If a green is elevated it should be because the terrain dictates it, not just because you think it's fun to have one. So a steep rise like that should and could look more natural, imho. If you like you can check out my Charlevoix course, which I did for the SDG site but which is available here. It's got a very steep rise on the par 5 3rd that would demonstrate what I mean.

Good day Jimi, really like the feed back, shows some people have an interest.I know I am making some mistakes and will learn by them, but the trees and tight fairways are there because I got tired of being able to play 10-14 under par on every course i loaded.I have played this in strong winds it requires alot of punch shots pretty much like I have to do at some courses I play here in Canada. Some hills were out of place but they never come into play any way.The really elevated par 3's are definatly holes that I have played in the past. You may not have encountered such holes but I have and I thought they would be fun to throw in,after all this is a fantasy course. If its low scores and putting through one break that you want then by all means play courses that are relatively wide open,if you would like to think a bit and aybe have the odd laugh play my layouts they will make you think and swear at the same time. There are alot of us out here as well that dont play strong winds all the time so it does pose a bit of a problem when hitting a fairway gets diffucult in calm or breezy.I do appreciate the feed back and I am sorry that you didnt finish the back nine,,they got harder.....Have a great day Jimi nice to here from you.Norm

This designer certainly shows promise, considering this is apparently only his third course. Having played the front 9 I do feel he has lots of room for improvement though. Personally with all those trees lining the often very tight fairways, I sometimes got a bit claustrophobic. I imagine that in strong wind conditions it would be quite a challenge to get the ball anywhere near a playable position. That's OK for a couple of holes, but one hole after another like that is just not my cup of tea. Visually it gets a bit boring too. But that is just a matter of personal taste. Ther are probably lots of players out there who like the concept. There were other things that bothered me more. I'll try and mention some of them. Take the pyramid shaped bump righti n the middle of the fairway of the 4th. I suppose it is meant to cause your ball to roll off, but the same effect can be had with a lot less radical elevation so you don't have to look at what looks a bit like a big green version of Mount Fuji where your ball is supposed to land. That there's the bunker fringe surroundig the green on 5. What's up with that? If you want a bunker around your green, at least try and give it some elevation. The elevations on 7 and 8 loked totally unrealistic to me. It is pretty easy to raise a bit of terrain by just about any amount you like, but there should be some sort of geophysical rationaliozation behind it. It shouldn'l look like somebode just shoveled a load of dirt up there and put some grass on it. Now water is one of my pet peeves and the water that runs along the 9th fairway is just plain horror to my sensitive eyes. It is flat, but it rises in an almost surreal way on the left side, while the edge on both sides look like somebody cut them with a razorblade. I felt too discouraged to continue, to tell the truth. This is not meant to dis the designer, in case any of his friends feel an irrepressable urge to come to his defense. Like i said right at the start, Wizzputter does show promise. I would suggest though that he spends some time trying to get his terrain to flow in a more naturalistic way. This needs experimenting. I would also suggest that he does not upload each and every experiment. Try and get a real feel for what the CA can do before you decide that your work can stand the test of true criticism. Don't be afraid to discard a course and start over. I do it all the time. Keep up the good work.
