First, a word of advice : if you think this course is peanuts, think again ! If, indeed, seeing figures of Charlie Brown and his friends, scattered on quite a few holes (starting with Snoopy on the tee markers) should make you smile, this par 72, with its slight elevation changes, odd-shaped bunkers, water hazards and tricky greens, will make you realize why Chimaera Design named this course “Charlie Brown’s Lament”... At first, the wide open par-4 opening hole, with a huge figure of Charlie Brown standing in the middle of a tiny pond (near the tee box) and staring at you as you get ready to tee off, will make you think otherwise, but you will have to remain on top of your game, after the nice par-3 3rd, with a big pond, not too far from the green (on the right), and the straight par-4 4th, pretty with its fairway hugging a serpentine creek all along ending behind the green. Why ? Simply because if your shots or putts drive you crazy, then "Doctor" Lucy van Pelt (!) will be listening to your... laments (in a small hut, to the left of the tee box of the dogleg left par-5 5th hole), before you can face a creek winding its way, again on the right, and the deep rough on a small mound spitting the fairway, two-thirds of the way ! The following dogleg left par-4 6th hole is no pushover either, with a blind tee shot through trees if you want to shorten the distance to the green (but beware of more deep rough all across the fairway, midway), just like the very long (more than 620 yards !) par-5 7th, where you can forget about getting an eagle, with a green set at the edge of an elongated lake (and impossible to reach on your second shot). Fortunately, on the gorgeous par-3 8th hole, you should be able to putt for a birdie after hitting a slightly-downhill tee shot toward its peninsula green, next to a wide lake (on the right), before moving on to the straight par-4 9th, and watch your second shot fly over Charlie Brown’s big face (in a shape of a bunker, filled with plenty of grass around) ! As you stand on the tee box of the par-4 10th hole, you will have a feeling of déjà-vu with that Charlie Brown figure, simply because it is parallel to the 1st hole (but to the left) before hitting a blind tee shot and an approach toward its undulated green, slightly to the right. The next few holes are “easier” but pretty with beautifully-shaped bunkers (especially on the straight par-4 11th and the par-4 13th holes), and water coming into play on the par-3 12th, with a small lake in front of the downhill green, and the straight par-4 14th, with a tee shot flying above bushes across the fairway, and landing near a lake (on the left). You will then face deep rough splitting the fairways across on the wide open dogleg left par-4 15th and 16th holes, with an uphill second shot toward an elevated and heavily undulated green on the first, and a blind and downhill tee shot landing near small paths with tall grass around framing the fairway on the latter. Finally, after the straight par-4 17th hole, and its bumpy green, you will complete your round with the pretty and challenging dogleg right par-5 18th, with a tee shot over deep rough landing onto a wide fairway, hugging a lake (on the right), and an uphill approach toward its elevated green, hidden by tall trees, hard to reach again on your second shot. With this well-designed layout and its great bunker work, and all those references to Charlie Brown (such as the huge... CBL billboard, advertising the movie “It’s the great pumpkin Charlie Brown” - seen on the back of the opening hole and the par-4 13th, to the left), Chimaera Design deserves an A+ for his homework. So, now it is up to you to do yours by downloading this very enjoyable course !

You're right Lloyd, there is a bit of fairway missing on the 6th. I never noticed because I aimed for the bit behind the ditch there while testing. A bit annoying, that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Just played the course with my 8 year old son and, for obvious reasons, he found a new favorite. :) Very nice work jimi. The Charlie Brown theme makes it very fun, but the course itself is very thoughtful and challenging. Some really nice design features too, like the giant waste bunker on 11 and the water coming into play on many holes. Love the Charlie Brown bunker on 9. That made my son's day. Even if he finished +58. :)

Thank you all very much for the nice comments. I sure had fun building this course. It just sort of flowed right out of the pc. Taking out the Charlie Brown stuff, as one of you suggested, would take the fun out of it a bit, I feel. So I won't do that. Maybe I'll do a Tintin course next, lol.

This is a super course even with the Charlie Brown stuff. I'd love to see it reissued without Charlie as Shenendoah National. (Assuming there is no such course.)

Jimi, you blockhead, this is a fantastic course. I hesitated downloading it, thinking it would be silly and over-the-top. But it is very realistic and it looks and plays great. As always, your structures and objects are second to none. Thanks man, can't wait for your next course, always interesting.

interesting concept and design. good flow and nice placement of objects and terrain. Played this with deep rough setting, which gave charlie more than a 5 oclock shadow..in fact he had sideburns and all. Never seen him as an adult before.
Good work
