Another beautiful course from axe360, with a very nice mountainous panorama, plenty of elevation changes and doglegs, a few water hazards and some undulating greens. This par 72 starts with a pretty par-4 hole, facing the mountains, with an undulating and sloped fairway and a small pond and an elongated bunker (halfway to the right) and four bunkers around the green, and continues with the par-4 2nd, with a dry riverbed across the fairway, midway, and a big pond further behind (to the right), not too far from the green. The par-3 3rd hole is quite nice too, with a downhill green, guarded by a small pond in front, and is followed by the left dogleg par-4 4th, quite interesting too, with a big deep rough area, midway, over which you will have to hit your approach to reach the elevated green. Another noteworthy hole is the par-4 6th, a sharp dogleg to the right, with a tee shot over a small pond in front, landing onto an undulating fairway, and a tough approach to the elevated green, partially hidden by trees. Then, after the pretty and panoramic par-3 7th hole, with its elevated green, I also like the left dogleg par-5 9th, with its undulating fairway and its long and blind second shot toward the elevated green, with bunkers on both sides. The right dogleg par-4 10th hole is one of the most spectacular on this course, with two shots over a serpentine lake needed to reach the green, but the par-4 12th is quite picturesque too, with a blind tee shot over some mounds and an approach to the green, with a small rocky slope on the right. The left dogleg par-5 13th hole is not to be overlooked either as it is quite long, with a narrower fairway as you try to reach the elevated green, but wait until you see the gorgeous par-3 15th, with a blind and downhill tee shot flying above a tall tee standing on a small island in the middle of a small lake... way below ! Then, after teeing off over a very wide waste bunker (with a couple of small rocks in it) on the par-4 16th hole, and firing your second shot toward its slightly-elevated green, you will face the short left dogleg par-4 17th, with two enormous elongated bunkers (on the left) and a couple of “normal” bunkers (on the right) to watch for, before finishing with one of the longest par-5 holes ever (more than 750 yards !) where you will definitely need three shots to reach its undulating green. With nice winding paths, small bridges and sparsely-planted trees, this Manzanita Pass GC offers quite a few challenging holes (especially those long par-5s) and some beautiful panoramic views, no matter where you stand, which is not surprising, considering that it was designed by axe... 360 !

Axe you have done an excellent job on this course, the more demanding a course is , i believe the better it is. Keep up the good work.

I loved playing this course. I have no problem with the greens, but I am still playing on the novice setting, so that may very well make the difference. I am amazed though at how the mountains in California are so much like those in Colorado. The pano for this course could very well be a similar place about 25 miles SW of Denver called Aspen Park. It is noted for the Hot Dog stand that actually looks like a giant hot dog. Great course....

Thank you Lloyd and Munroco for taken the time to post some comments. I agree with you on the greens, and my next course will have greens that are far more subtle. Thanks for downloading and the help. Peace

You did a nice job on the course but your greens are ridiculous and did not enjoy playing something like this. dips and slopes are find but your potholes are worse than most city streets.

Excellent, Loved it all, except for the greens, which were a wee bit to extreme for my putting. This actually looks like a real golf course. Theres not many you can say that about.

I agree, this course you must think, especially when playing ADV or EXPERT, where your lie is taken into consideration. The sloping on the fairway and greens makes this a real challenge to play, but not at the expense on gimmicks. There are none here - just plain old fashioned golf. I rated this a Masterpiece, as the views and elevations makes this one of the best-looking courses to play!

Larry, this is easily your best performance yet. It's been great to see you improve so much in your designs -- excellent elevation work and creative hole layouts here. Love the scenery with the bold pano -- complements the course very nicely. Congrats on a fine course.
