Very intrigued after reading all the comments and Rlslay’s reactions, i decided to play this par 72 to find out why he was "unhappy" with his course, even though it was only his 4th creation... and after finishing 11 over par (in novice mode !), I am still puzzled as to why some did not enjoy it ! With that gorgeous Laurel Ridge panorama (small mountains and lakes), beautiful plantings (with sparsely-planted and strategically-placed tall trees), wide lakes and plenty of peninsulas with tiny greens (often with bunkers in front), this course is not only superb, from the 1st tee to the 18th green, but also quite tough (especially the water holes) ! It starts with one of the most gorgeous holes you will ever play, a par-4 with a beautiful panoramic view and a tee shot over a wide lake landing onto a peninsula fairway with a few trees and a bunker in the middle, and a tough second shot over the water to the slightly-elevated green, with a small bunker in front and a couple of trees to the right. The par-4 2nd hole is very pretty too, with a tee shot over a small lake with a few trees on both sides of the fairway, and a blind uphill second shot to the green (with another nice lake on the right), just like the left dogleg par-4 4th, with the fairway hugging a very wide and elongated lake on the left, making your approach shot to the green quite long. One of the toughest holes on this course is the very scenic left dogleg par-5 5th, with a very narrow fairway along the lake on the left, hard to reach (unless you hit a... perfect tee shot !), and a very long second shot over the water with tiny patches of land in between to reach its tiny green ! If you “survive” this hole (which I did not, ha, ha !), then you will have another tough challenge on the beautiful par-3 6th hole, with a tee shot over the lake and a tiny green, surrounded by tall fir trees, before facing the short (about 340 yards) left dogleg par-4 7th, with a tee shot over a lake, an undulating green and an approach shot to the green, partially hidden by tall trees. You will finish the front 9 with the very short (about 445 yards) dogleg par-5 9th hole, bending sharply to the right (after the trees on the right), and where you should lay up on your second shot if you don’t want to end up in the wide lake in front of the green. The back 9 starts with another scenic hole, the par-4 10th, with a panoramic view and a tee shot over the wide lake and a green, at the tip of a peninsula and partially hidden by a few small fir trees to the right, and is followed by the nice par-3 11th, with a tee shot over the lake and a peninsula green with a big bunker in front on the left. Then, after the pretty dogleg par-4 13th hole, with a blind second shot to the green, hidden by tall trees, you will head for the nice right dogleg par-4 14th, with a wide open panoramic view of the lake in front (in the corner), an undulating fairway, and a flag pretty close to the water. The short (about 470 yards) dogleg par-5 15th hole looks awesome, with a tree-lined fairway ending halfway before bending sharply to the left, and a very long second shot over the peninsula to reach the slightly-elevated green, with two bunkers on both sides in front. Finally, after the pretty par-3 16th hole, with a beautiful panoramic view as your tee shot flies over the lake and lands onto the peninsula green (with two more bunkers in front), you will face the picturesque right dogleg par-5 18th hole where, with its tree-lined fairway ending halfway on the right, you will have a very long and tough second shot over the lake to try to reach the other peninsula, before aiming for the green, partially hidden by trees on the right ! With its breathtaking views and very challenging water holes (thankfully alternating with “easier and waterless” ones), this Grecilda Lake course definitely ranks as one of my favorites from Rlslay who, later on, went on to design mostly tropical (and gorgeous) courses with much more flowers and bushes...
P.S. As they say "the second time is a charm" ! After my "awful" score, the first time around, I played this course again and finished with a... 65 (even after scoring 8 on the 5th hole !), which proves that if you are "extra careful" on the 5th, 9th, 14th and 18th holes, you can finish with a big smile on your face !

I have to agree with you Daftyboys, there is plenty of things wrong with this course ..and I am not making no excuses, it was only my 4th course, only months old as a designer and I am just learning and trying new things. I think as course designers we have to learn as we go ... and be willing to try new ways and different things and not be afraid to step out of our comfort zone. Thinking outside the box, and including the chance of failure. I have try to improve and go to the next level on every course I upload. I don't want to be a cookie cutter designer, I think it is very easy to fall in the same old same old course building routine and being satisfied just to upload a new course to play. I am constantly looking to find new ways of improving my courses. Even to this day I resort back to tutorials to help me and refresh my memory on how is the best possible way. I play other designer courses and look to see what is good that I like and what not to do. I look to see how someone's idea could be better, or it will give me my own new idea and improve on it for a better course myself. I don't always get it right, but at least I am willing to try to push the limits, and take the chance. I have taken risks with point counts, object counts , panos and plot size, and I am still have not found the limits and continue to go beyond. A few Downloaders want to complain about so many different kinds of things about a designers courses, but most fail to realize that the program is from a TW 06 game and that what we are getting out of it is like miracles. I want Tiger Woods 08 to still be the best golf game you can play, that is the best looking and has the most playability. I have look at some of the other golf games out there... and I can say to myself, my courses look as good or even better and theirs almost 10 years ahead of us now. I wish every designer would look and say " I am going to learn and take the next step in building a better course next time no matter how long or what I have to do" that includes myself.

I wanted to like this course more as there are some great holes on it. I love fantasy courses that play realistically and slay is the guy to make them. However, hole 7 is just unplayable. You get penalized for a good tee shot. Just shouldn't happen. However, like I said there are some marvelous holes here.

Another magnificent effort, Rob - definitely underrated at only 4 black boxes. Still, 1000+ downloads is nothing to sneeze at. Thanks for giving us another slice of Paradise...

If you don't mind the floating trees all over the place, this one is awesome. This would be one of my favorite courses of the year if not for them, but I do still like the course a lot and will keep it to play again. Thanks for this one.
