Welcome to Rockford, Illinois ! This course starts very nicely with the par-5 1st hole and a lakeview as a bonus and from there it runs smoothly. As expected, there is plenty of water to deal with (12 out 18 holes). A few holes are nice, especially the par-3 8th (surrounded by water) and the 18th. A job well done with only a little questionable hole, the par-4 17th, where a big mound lies right in the middle of the fairway making it almost impossible for the ball to stay there. Otherwise, it's a nice course to keep !

I just played this course for the first time and really enjoyed the round. It played smooth, and has a great layout for making sure you think about your shots. As far as the holes being close to the edge of the greens, they seemed to be ok to me, but I do still play on the novice setting. One thing I will have to remember though. The next time I am visiting family in Chicago, I will have to look at beach front property in Rockford. I didn' realize they had a very beautiful coastline there.... LOL.

I figure the world is 75% water for a reason. That is why I sail. |

Sorry, the invisible tree that is either on the green on on its fringe is on Hole 15, not 16. I ran into it again!

I liked this course, challenging, but I wonder if that hill on 17 is really like that. You can hold it, keep it from rolling down the sides, but you need to hit a 2W or 3W to keep it on top. I know some real courses that cut holes close to the front of the green. You either have to spin the ball back, or hit your approach shot short enough and let the ball roll onto the green.
My problem came in hole 16. There is a rather large transparent tree right on the greens edge (left-hand side while facing the green I believe). It appears out of nowhere.
Other than that, this is a great course which everyone should have in their library.

I really liked this course. The contours of the greens offered a bit of a challenge and really made me think before putting.
The front nine was awesome. I Birdied the 1st,3rd,4th,sixth,seventh and the ninth. Parred the other 3 holes. The back nine was a different story. I managed to birdy the 10th, but the elevated green on the 11th got me. I over shot and went downhill and I underestimated and my next shot rolled back down again, That one was a bogey. Then I parred the 12th. On the 13th a tree jumped out and grabbed my ball and dropped it in the water. I ended up with a bogey there. I parred the next 3 holes . On the 17th, I thought the big hill in the middle of the fairway was a nice touch. I got the GIR but I goofed on a putt, (stupid) and ended up with a bogey there. Then I rounded it out on the 18th with a birdy there. Altogether 9 birds, 6 pars and 3 disappointing bogeys.
Overall it was a very enjoyable round. Very nice Course.

My personal rule for putting: If it looks straight, shoot it straight- 7 times out of 10, itll go in. However if there is any contour at all- screw it, itll be a 2 putt Par :D |

I liked the course, Just had trouble with some of the pin placements close to the edge of the green and try to get the ball to stop.
