Hurry to download this masterpiece by Bullpupp2 before reading my comments (LOL) ! This par 73 is simply awesome from the 1st tee to the 18th green, with a magnificent panorama of small mountains with the Hudson River below, vertiginous cliffs, beautiful plantings and quite a few water hazards. Besides bringing your camera, make sure that you take your pills against dizziness as you will need them on the first three holes : the par-4 1st has a very deep cliff on the left side and a downhill green, overlooking the valley, just like the par-3 2nd hole where you will admire the panoramic view as your tee shot flies down to the green. On the right dogleg par-5 3rd hole, if you want to reach the slightly-uphill green in two shots, you will need to hit them over the cliffs twice. After that "scary" start, your legs won't be shaking anymore on the "easy" par-4 4th hole, but you will have to be careful on your second shot as the tiny green is above a small pond (with a beautiful stone wall around it). The downhill right dogleg par-4 5th hole has trees in the right corner and two bunkers with high rough around them in front of the green but, with its wide green, you should have a birdie opportunity... After enjoying the next three holes, nice but easy, you will reach the long right dogleg par-5 9th hole, with a big hollow wasteland full of deep rough, slightly to the right midway through, before reaching on your second (or third) shot the green and its beautiful clubhouse (?), overlooking the valley. The back 9 starts with the nice left dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a lone tree and a bunker around in the middle of the fairway and a downhill green, and is followed by the right dogleg par-5 11th where, with big trees to the right of the fairway halfway, reaching the hidden green on your second shot won't be an easy task ! Then, after the short downhill par-4 12th hole (about 340 yards) with bunkers and high rough right in front of the green, you will face the straight and very picturesque par-3 13th hole, beautiful with a tee shot over a tiny creek running in the middle and all the way past the green and its cute little wooden bridge. If the par-4 14th hole, with an uphill tee shot and two lakes, one to the left and another one, further to the right in front of the green (with a nice small stone wall around it), is quite nice, especially as you reach the green with its superb panoramic view below, the long par-5 15th hole, with an elongated lake on the left and its green at the end on the right, is quite tricky as you will have to decide whether to hit your second shot in the rough on the right (to have a closer 3rd shot to the green) or on the... fairway to the left, but with a longer and tougher approach shot… The last three holes will remind you that it's time to take your pills again ! The par-4 16th has a tough approach shot over a cliff to reach the green, whereas the par-3 17th hole is one of the scariest holes you will ever face with a tee shot over a very steep cliff with a gorgeous view of the valley as a bonus ! As for the par-5 18th hole, it it visually stunning and scary too with a tough tee shot over a cliff on the left and a small lake on the right side, making the fairway quite narrow, and a donwhill blind second (and/or third) shot over the tiered cliffs to the green, located just below the clubhouse : simply superb, and one of the greatest finishing holes you will ever play... With its gorgeous scenery and landscape, colorful and varied trees, beautiful work on the cliffs, bunkers, and the small retaining walls around the ponds and lakes, The Palisades Golf Club is a gem and a definite top 10 in my book, thanks to the great designing talent of BullPupp2 !

This is one great course. You must have spent weeks making this masterpiece. Having spent time in the Hudson River Valley area, you captured the area and if this was real, I'd be packing my bags now to play it. Great job.

This course is just Great! That area is known as Bear Mtn. - that's where the song "the bear went over the mountain" comes from. Just a thing of Beauty! Masterpiece for sure! A big (bear hug) on this one. (lol)

Played this while practicing for this CDT tour last night, and I must say you did a nice job with this course. From the little I know about designing. I must say this course must have taken some serious time to do this with those elevations. The elevation work is not to extreme on the playing area itself, and there was a nice balance with all that. This really helped with the realistic feel I got while playing my round, and I imagine this is what it must be like to play a real life course in the mountains. I like the use of the textures, and this is one area that is giving me some trouble with me not knowing the libraries at all. That, and point count, but I'll save you from that long story.....:P Like the way you did the rock work with blending the grasses on the plateaus & other areas throughout the course. Nice plantings too, and I'm looking forward to playing 4 rds on this baby with the CDT tour this week, but the gusty & breezy condition rounds are freaking me out. Will see if I can just break par in the winds, but my score will suffer more than it usually does for sure with one or two bad mistakes. I love any challenging course even if my skills aren't very good compared to other players that play TW 2008.
I'm not going rate courses anymore, but just leave a comment when I remember too because I think my comments will explain my like or dislikes with a course better than leaving a rating. Nothing against any of the designers, but I would rather leave a comment than a rating.
Thanks for your time while making this course Squirrely

Bullpupp, this is the first course I have rated as a "Masterpiece!" Living in Rockland County NY most of my life, and serving a short stint as a Military Policeman at West Point, this course brings back memories. I think you got the Hudson River North of the Bear Mountain bridge "spot on." And I loved the way you placed the tees, fairways and greens along the edges of the cliffs. And the rockwork and pano give me a stange feeling in my gut on some of my shots! This is a must play and must have for everyone. (The 18th hole is a great hole - but you'll have to play it yourself to see what I mean!)

Wow! This one is a real challenge. If you don't hit it on the screws here you're in a lot of trouble. Scenic, panoramic views are fantastic. This course is a must have. Thanks much Bullpupp. When I win the lottery, I'll be hiring you to design the course that will be going in my backyard. LOL
