A beautiful desert course with rolling hills and mountains behind, a few lone trees near the greens, nice plantings, lots of... sand (brown and white), a few water hazards, plenty of undulating fairways, small elevation changes, and with some tough and well-placed bunkers, especially in front of the greens. Quietly also paid great attention to details (yardage markers, water coolers, divot boxes, to name a few), not to mention that beautiful pueblo-style big home, visible on quite a few holes, mainly on the back 9. After the nice right dogleg par-4 1st hole and its panoramic view, I like the straight par-5 2nd, with an approach shot over a wide lake to reach the green, just like the par-3 3rd hole, with a tough tee shot over that wide lake again. The left dogleg par-5 4th hole is slightly uphill all the way, with the cart path splitting the fairway diagonally from the left, and a blind approach shot to reach the green, and is followed by the right dogleg par-4 5th, with plenty of sand on the right side of the fairway and bunkers around the slightly-elevated green. One of my favorite holes is the straight, but very scenic, par-3 6th, with plenty of brown sand in front of the tee and some lighter sand in front, and to the right, of the green. If the par-4 7th hole is pretty, with a bunker zigzagging all along the fairway on the left and a second shot over it to reach the green, the right dogleg par-5 8th is tougher and nicer, with a tee shot over plenty of sand and a very long approach shot over a small lake to reach the green. Another beautiful hole is the left dogleg par-4 9th, with a slanted fairway and plenty of bunkers on the right side, and a gorgeous approach shot to the elevated green with that beautiful home and its two small towers, behind on the left side. On the back 9, the left dogleg par-5 11th hole is beautiful, with a very long second shot over a hollow wasteland, filled with sand, trees and bushes, and a couple of big bunkers right in front of the elevated green, whereas the par-4 12th, is straight but quite short (about 350 yards) and tricky, with a small hill on the left and a few bunkers in the middle of the undulated fairway, a slightly-uphill tee shot and two small elongated lakes on the right, separated by a cart path. Then, after the par-4 13th hole, uphill all the way with the cart path crossing the fairway in the middle with two big bunkers, left and right, in front of the green (with a nice road behind), you will reach the right dogleg par-4 14th, with its rollercoaster fairway and a very long approach shot to the elevated green, with a deep bunker in front (slightly to the left) and that big house behind. The next two holes are gorgeous : the par-3 15th is quite scenic, with its panoramic view of the desert and its five bunkers all around the downhill green, and so is the straight and tough par-4 16th hole, with a tee shot over sand and bushes and some big bunkers midway, (making the undulating fairway quite narrow), and an approach shot to the elevated green, with two big bunkers in front and a road behind with some cute little Mexican-style homes (with their own driveways and lawns !). On the par-3 17th hole, you will need to hit your tee shot over another hollow wasteland, filled with sand, to reach the elevated green, guarded by a big bunker, before heading for the right dogleg par-4 18th where, after hitting an uphill tee shot (hopefully avoiding the few big bunkers around the corner), you will need another uphill shot to the green, with that nice two-tower house nearby. With its beautiful landscape and design, its meandering cart paths and all those big bunkers, this par 73 looks so real that it is a pure delight to watch and play, thanks to Quietly's talent and great work !

Wow, what a really stunning piece of course design this is, I just played it allong with Sparrow's Nest on the coursedownload tour, loved every single moment and will be keeping both courses for personal play. Thanks for all the hard work you must have put into this one.

I must say, if a picture paints a thousand words...the splash for this is a great intro to what the player finds when they get into the game. Well done , tips hat to you.

Atmospheric course with a pervasive feeling of tranquillity. Loved the color blend of the rock surfaces. Quality course with a high play it again factor.

This desert design fully captures the appearance and sensation of playing on a southern Nevada golf course. The elevation work is magnificent as are the bunker work and greens. All of the extra structures and planting add to this stunning design. The tee markers, water coolers, yardage markers and those beautiful pueblo style adobe homes add to elegance of this course. You really have to deliberate over each and every shot which adds to this very challenging design. This course is first-class and has quickly become one of my favorites. Excellent work Quietly, a five star design!

Wow ... Quietly, this is a real treat! The amount of time, effort and forethought that went into this design is obvious ... like the way that you designed the holes thinking about the placement of cartpaths and involving them in the hole designs. The attention to detail is really impressive, with the touches like the tee markers, divot replacement dirt boxes, yardage markers, etc. I am most impressed by the fact that the only perfectly flat areas on the course are the ponds and the tee boxes. ;) Really like the rolling hills that surround the course.
My favorite hole is the 16th with the daunting tee shot into what appears to be a sea of sand. Highlight of my round was the 27 yard putt for an eagle on the 14th hole. This one has found a permanent place on my hard drive.

This is textbook course designing, lots of eye candy. Good shot planning and club selection is a must here. Thanks for this fantastic course Quietly.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone :) It's good to know that my hard work is appreciated
Foreleft - I consider this course to be far and away the best all around design I've ever released so my previous releases will pale somewhat in comparison. Sparrows Nest, my other 08 course is much more subdued and generic. It's quite nice, but it lacks the boldness or 'WOW' factor that Ghost of the Sands has. If you've never tried White Pines from 07, you may want to. It was a nice 9-hole layout, but I'm seriously entertaining notions of creating an 08 version with a full 18 holes. Orchard Valley was in 07 what Ghosts has been in 08 for me, except that it had serious crash issues for some. It wasn't a desert course, but I felt it had a lot of wow factor in it as well.

Excellent offering, enjoyed my round very much. The course is very playable and challenging, plus the visuals are just awesome. I will have to take a closer look at your previous courses now!

Beautiful course Quietly. I possibly could have liked it a little more than usual because I got my first double eagle this year ;) I liked the risk/reward aspect and it's always nice to see a good desert course. You have tremendous patience and use it to your advantage.

Very nice. Smooth, rolling fairways and lots of tricks on the greens. Played as a challenge on novice, should be fine for expert or inter as well. Good job Q!
