With ruins of a castle and its ramparts set on a hilltop as a panorama, this par 73 has a few nice views on some holes even if the surroundings, at times, look a little bare... But with nice plantings, water hazards and quite a few narrow fairways, this course is not an easy one as there are plenty of doglegs. After a straight par-4 1st hole, with a nice view of the castle in front, I like the right dogleg par-4 3rd hole, with a few bunkers in the corner of the uphill undulated fairway leading to the downhill green, and the right dogleg par-5 4th hole with a pond across the fairway, not far from the green. After the left dogleg par-4 5th hole, the left dogleg par-4 6th hole, one of my favorites, is quite challenging, with trees framing a very narrow fairway (with a little creek on the right side), and an uphill narrow peninsula green, surrounded in a horseshoe-shape by water, with the view of a river and an old bridge on the left side : not only tough, but quite nice ! Another favorite hole of mine is the scenic par-3 8th, with a small pond across below the elevated green, surrounded by bunkers and nice buhes. The right dogleg par-5 9th hole is also quite tough with a very narrow fairway between trees and another small U-shaped pond across, not far from the green, hard to reach on your approach shot. On the back 9, the dogleg par-4 11th and 12th holes look a little bit similar with a big lake on the left side, unlike the right dogleg par-4 13th, with a nice tiny green, surrounded by a few tall trees and a couple of bunkers. The right dogleg par-4 14th hole is quite nice, especially on your approach shot to the green, surrrounded by nice colorful bushes, as you see the old castle above and is followed by the left dogleg par-4 15th hole, with a small pond across the fairway, not far from the green and plenty of high rough around the green. If the par-3 16th hole is quite nice with its blind tee shot to the green, surrounded by plenty of bushes, the right dogleg par-5 18th hole, with a big pond across the fairway, not far from the slightly downhill green, has an interesting architectural view with three different kinds of buildings next to each other, with the colonial-style in the middle being the nicest. Overall, this course plays quite smoothly, thanks to willie' design, but could be even more eye-pleasing with less bare surroundings and a couple of trees "back" on land, instead of being in the water (11th hole, for example)...
