Very nice links course with a beautiful (and blue) ocean as a panorama and with some very tough and, sometimes, scary holes near (and above) the cliffs. After a nice start with the uphill dogleg par-4 1st hole, with a winding road on the right and turning behind the fairway, you will get a taste of what this course is all about on the long (more than 650 yards) par-5 2nd, facing the ocean, with an undulated fairway and a steep elevated green, close to the cliff on the left. If the par-4 3d hole, with a lake across, not far from the green, is more inland, it is not as scenic as the left dogleg par-4 5th hole, with two uphill shots and a nice panoramic view of the ocean as you reach the green, and the gorgeous (and scary !) par-3 6th, next to the ocean with a small green on the other side of a big slope, and with a flag very close to the edge of the cliff on the left. Then, after the slightly-to-the-left dogleg par-4 7th hole, with plenty of mounds and bunkers and an elevated green, you will reach the picturesque and challenging par-5 8th, with a very narrow fairway in the middle of a lake, and a green, further to the left (with a nice wooden covered bridge on the right), almost impossible to reach on your second shot... You will then finish the front 9 with the postcard-like par-3 9th hole, with the green on the other bank of the lake with a nice lighthouse to look at. Nice holes await you on the back 9 too, starting with the dogleg par-5 10th, slightly uphill and to the left, with a lake on the left side, plenty of bunkers all along, the ocean on the right and a tiny green, with the pin placed near the edge of the cliff (with the lighthouse on the right). Three short holes follow : the right dogleg downhill par-4 11th hole (about 350 yards), with the ocean on the right and bunkers all along the undulated fairway, the par-3 12th, quite scary with the flag close to the edge of the cliff, and the par-4 13th hole (about 330 yards), inland and slightly to the left, with bunkers near the elevated green. The next few holes are inland : the par-5 14th is quite nice with a fairway hugging the lake on the left and a green, slightly downhill and partially hidden by small mounds, the par-3 15th hole has a green on an elevated mound with three bunkers around, and the sharp dogleg par-4 16th, bending around the lake on the right, needs a tough (and long) approach shot to reach the green. Then, after the down-and-up left dogleg par-4 17th hole, with plenty of bunkers on the right side of the fairway, the par-4 18th hole will "offer" you one last test, with a very twisted fairway, and plenty of high mounds all along, and a very steep elevated green ! Well designed by plawlor, Erie Cliffs is delightful to play and watch, but it should have been renamed Eerie Cliffs, as you will get goosebumps quite a few times while hitting shots over those vertiginous cliffs, especially on the front 9...
