Another nice course from Bobby Bolin, more... old fashioned, with some slight elevation changes and nice doglegs, but where you need to hit some pretty good and straight shots too on quite a few holes with some very narrow tree-lined fairways along the way. The straight par-4 opening hole sets the tone, with a downhill tee shot landing onto a narrow tree-lined fairway, but the downhill par-3 2nd is nicer, with a small lake on the left of the green, surrounded by three small bunkers. You will face another narrow tree-lined (and rollercoaster) fairway on the par-5 3rd hole, with a very long second shot toward the slightly-elevated green, slightly to the right, before moving on to the left dogleg par-5 4th where, after a downhill tee shot landing onto an undulating fairway, you will need to hit a blind shot downward to the green (hard to reach on your second shot), guarded by a small bunker in front. Fortunately, the next par-4 dogleg holes have wider fairways (5th, uphill to the right, 6th, downhill to the left with a sloped green, 7th, to the right, with an approach downward to the green), before facing the nice par-3 8th hole, with a tee shot over a big lake. Then, after finishing with the par-4 left dogleg 9th hole, and its undulating green, you will move on to the back 9, more scenic and challenging. It starts with the straight par-4 10th hole, with a very narrow tree-lined fairway downhill to the green, and continues with the very picturesque right dogleg par-5 11th, with a tee shot flying along a small river on the right, winding its way through the trees (further on to the right), and a very long approach to the slightly-elevated and undulating green. The following par-3 12th hole is pretty and tough, with a downhill tee shot and a green, surrounded by 8 (!) bunkers, just like the nice right dogleg par-4 13th, with a tee shot flying over colorful flowers in the corner and with a big pond behind the slightly-elevated green. But my favorite hole on this course, is the very pretty par-3 16th, with a small lake on the right, two-thirds of the way, and a green set on a small mound. You will complete your round with the par-4 17th hole, with a blind and uphill tee shot landing down the sloped and undulating fairway, followed by a second shot to the elevated green, slightly to the left before heading for the straight and slightly-uphill par-4 18th, leading to the clubhouse, behind the green. Overall, if you are patient enough and able to avoid getting in trouble near all the trees, and score a few birdies on some of those tricky greens, you should finish with a nice scorecard on this par 71, before heading, maybe, for the other Bolinwood courses, nicely designed by Bobby Bolin...
