Sorry, this has to be the first ron717 design that I did not like. Laggy is the big reason for me. Looks nice, but if its sluggish to play it does not stay on my HDD.

ron -
You have nothing to apologize for your course physics-wise. Your course may not be the "real" Pasatiempo but the course itself got a big thumbs up from me & mine for TW08 course design work and playability.
Again, good course design work amd am looking forward to future designs.

version out. I look forward to seeing and playing a more accurate design of this course. ronbrug, I know you would make a good rendition of this course, I would like to see and play your version of Pasatiempo.

I wanted to do this course for a long time, but i couldnt find a updated orthoimage.
Last night i found one on the seamless site, and also downloaded the dem.
The elevations on this course are good but not accurate.
I did read some thing about the first hole, it has a 28 yards downhill teeshot, on yours its 43 feet.
From the green on the first hole , u need 2 see the ocean. didnt see that on yours.
On the pasatiempo website, there are some panaroma views, and pictures off every hole.
On the dem i downloaded whit the orthoimage, the elevations looks right compared to the pictures on the website.
This is a good course, but making a course like pasatiempo is really tough.
You did a good job, but like the others said, not really the real pasatiempo.

Oops sorry - quick correction of comparison of hole #18 -- When I say "level" I mean in comparison.

Ron, thank you for designing a very good course which is fun to play. Excellent TW08 work and I voted same.
I know designing courses for TW08 is hard enough as it is, let alone trying to replicate a real course with or without oodles of information, but to echo jurgie your course really isn't what Pasatiempo is, having played that tough nut course a couple of times myself.
To use only one example, the real hole #18 at Pasatiempo is a great closing hole albeit a par 3. Quite the view, quite the elevation change, and quite the double bogie for me! Your TW08 #18 is well designed for a par 3, but not anywhere near the real deal.
Again, you did great job on your course but it is not "the" Pasatiempo. Perhaps a caveat to the "real" label in the course description?

Ron, a very nice design from you as usual. The hole layouts do resemble this Santa Cruz course which is about 4 hours south of me somewhat. Visually as far as the panorama, landscaping and structures, this rendition of Pasatiempo bears little resemblance to the actual course. This always seems to be a problem when trying to replicate an actual course using the limited tools available for TW customs. Although it has been several years since I last visited this course, a couple of things stood out for me during my visit. Majestic views of the surrounding area, an almost overabundance of trees all shapes and sizes, not to mention the numerous structures that are part of the actual layout. Being situated close to the coast, there is also a certain lushness throughout the entire area that I just don't see in this rendition. I think that all these shortcommings are due more to the limitations of the CA than anything else. Again, let me say that this is a very nice design and I commend you on your efforts to revive this old gem of a course. For me however, it just isn't Pasatiempo.

ZB, your comments are appreciated, I tried to make the course with the before and after photographs of various holes at Pasatiempo Golf Club that have recently or are currently undergoing restoration work prescribed by Tom Doak’s master plan. The overhead for the course is dated also, and my knowledge base was limited, so I know the course is not precise with the real course. I know some greens and bunkers are not precise, but I tried to make them as close as my information would allow.
Some fairways and shot distances were made longer for the game play. I know this design could be better and more precise in the hands of many of the designers that make courses for the community. I made the course for myself, and I think the course gives the illusion and feel of Pasatiempo. I try to make enjoyable courses that are fun to play and give the player a little of what the real course is like. I know each course I make could be better with more patience and time, but my endurance for each course is short. So thanks for taking the time to look at the course, I know you and the community have high standards, which is the way it should be. My standards are high also for the custom and real courses. I think we all do a great job with the tools we have to work with. You and your team put out great courses and make the game and this hobby fun. If EA would give the Maya or 3dsmax plug in for course design to the community, we could really put some beautiful courses out.

Smitty, oaklandhills, and Willie, sorry for your problems, I don't know the cause for them.
Make sure your not picking Pasatiempo 06 during online. Willie try another file download and
clean install. Hope this helps. Thanks for interest in course,

ron

Id be very interested to know whether the last 10 years of restoration work carried out by Doak and Urbina has been incorporated in this version of Pasatiempo. My understanding is that almost every hole was altered in some way, ranging from the movement of existing bunkers to the addition of long hazards and moving/rebuilding entire green complexes. Doak and Urbina were commissioned by the club to restore Pasatiempo to its original design which was lost over the years since the original architect, MacKenzie died. 񢈎) It must have been a thrilling moment when in the early 90s, Bob Beck (club historian) uncovered the original course photographs taken by legendary photographer of Pebble Beach, Julian Graham and even more exciting for Doak to be given the restoration task, which was long before he himself became a notable architect with courses such as Barnbougle dunes, Pacific Dunes and Cape Kidnappers, which all came to fruition after he started at Pasatiempo. I really hope this restoration has been incorporated into this design for TW08 and look forward to checking this one out.
