Goes right into the favorites file for me, played completely fair, I enjoy risk/reward holes and this has a lot of them, and they play just like they should, nothing tricky. Thanks for a great course, Fox, hope you're reading this and know how much you're appreciated.

Well, after playing that gorgeous, but very unusual (to say the least...) fantasy course in the Cherokee Mountains, I decided to come down (along with my deadly exhausted caddie !) to check the Cherokee Lakes. This par 72 is simply superb with all its water hazards, variety of shots and its beautiful panorama far away. My favorite holes are the par-4 5th, with its great view from the tee with all those colorful trees around, the "cute" par-3 7th, with the green, on the other side of the river, surrounded by nice trees, the risk/reward par-4 8th with the lake splitting the fairway twice, and the left dogleg par-5 9th hole, quite scenic with the lake on the left side, not far from the tee. On the back 9, the par-5 11th hole is nice and quite challenging with a very long approach shot to the green, with water in front, but my favorite holes are the almost straightforward par-4 16th, with a lone tree (and beautiful flowers around it), standing near the green guarded by a very big bunker on the left side, and the par-5 17th, a dogleg to the left with a downhill tee shot, a sloped fairway and a blind approach shot to reach the green. In fact, this course could easily be classed as real and is a beauty. Now, just imagine if Foxinthewoods and MemphixxBill (the Cherokee Mountains's designer) were to design a golf course together ? It would be even more awesome, but that's just a... fantasy !

Terrific course and design, a blast to play. The course feels very natural and is fantastic to look at, a real beauty.. and the layout is quite realistic, just a few little quirks here n there. The two holes that stood out were the 5th, a killer par 4 (rightly #1 hcp), and the quaint par 3 7th.. man I love short par 3's (wish there were more!) and this one's an absolute gem. I found the difficulty level was about perfect too - most of the trouble I got in was self-inflicted lol. A tremendous effort all-round, really impressive stuff and loads of fun. Cheers!

5 stars right out of the box. The first 2 holes had me hooked and then hole 15 showed up and gave me a big slap in the face. Think you were doing poorly before? Now you are. Even though that hole killed my score, it has made me want to play again to get better at the rest of the course.

I also think this is a great course and how real it feels playing it. If this is only your second one, I can't wait to see what you do in the future. The only disappointment that I have is that it is a fantasy course. I would love to play this one in real life.
BTW: Got an ACE on Hole 13....yay

It feels like this course was designed after the terrain was, and the holes were carved into it. It has that natural feeling to it. I love the way water is used on this course, and makes some holes a risk/reward type of shooting. The greens are sloped, but not contrived. It feels inline with the rest of the course. To me, it is a masterpiece.

Adding to the previous comments I have to say you did a remarkable job. The variety of the various holes is such to make me want to play CLakes again and again. The views in ball cam shots are great eye candy, the surrounding countryside is right on for the venue, and the subtle use of wildlife sounds does not detract from the immersion of the game. If this is only your second course I can only say I look forward to your third, fourth, and however many you decide to submit. Its a keeper. Scott

Infact, knowing that courses of this caliber are achieveable, I dont if we ever get a new PC version of TW. Also, forget this course being in only the top 25 for 08, I will suggest that this is without a doubt in the top ten.

This is an outstanding design. A few things are really noteworthy. The water looks great and there is plenty of it. The use of the various types of trees and some great landscaping techniques give this course a tremendous amount of eye appeal. The contour work of the terrain is exceptional. Most and best of all are the rough textures. They are very natural looking with no slanted grass anywhere. This course for me definitely makes the top 25 list of custom designs for 08. Outstanding work!
