Here is another course where the TW07 water displaying bugs, which I mentioned four years ago, are no longer there with TW08 ! As a result, I really enjoyed this gorgeous and very challenging course, with some very nice holes on the front 9 (3rd, 5th, 6th and 9th), requiring some tough approaches while making sure to avoid all those well-placed bunkers and water hazards. I also realized that the 11th, 12th, 13th and 15th holes are quite pretty and challenging, along with the previously-mentioned par-5 18th where, like all the other par 5s, you can forget about getting an eagle... But one thing remained all along : the sheep, seen everywhere, on this superb par 71, well-designed by TeeOffTowersey, and one of his best !

Another smashing design from Mr Towersey. I imagine this must be a grand and impressive course in real life and that feeling was conveyed well here, and from previous comments a high level of realism. As the blurb says there is plenty of variety around the course.. with a fantastic finishing stretch, culminating in one awesome 18th. It's a solid challenge throughout but I found the back 9 sterner, playing both fair and demanding. Oh and good luck if you're tempted on that wicked little 15th (like I was) or you might end up with a triple-bogey (like I did!). A great great course, cheers!

Very nice course where you are faced with some tough decisions on your second shots with all these bunkers and water hazards. I like the back 9 better than the front 9 and had a "ball" with the 12th hole and the par-5 18th where, like all the other par 5s, you have hardly any chance of getting an eagle. Greens which look smooth are quite tricky sometimes with slopes close to the cup. If you can avoid hitting all the sheep nearby, beware of the water that comes into play, mostly on the back 9. Unfortunately, for me, and despite changing the water details a few times, water looks very grainy, "spoiling" a little bit my very good feeling about this course.

Nice rendition of the course. I have one minor critique; the par 4 14th had a new tee put in recently and now plays 485 yards, which would take any thought of carrying the right water hazard out of play unless it plays severely downwind. Also I want to ask if whether a "Ryder Cup" edition of the course will be made, sort of like what was done with Valhalla for TW08?

Just played this course on the Clam tour, and it's was a nice course. Love how you made the tress & fence lines match the pano tree & fence lines with the farms making the course blend right in with things. Those deep fairway bunkers punished my errant shots off the tee like they should do. Had to learn the hard way to take my medicine, and hit a high loft shot instead of going for distance with a higher iron in those deep fairway bunkers. First time I tried hitting a high Iron out of bunkers, the shot rolled right back down to my feet..........LOL Loved the bunkers even if they slapped me silly while hitting in them, and the work on them was good........ :)
Greens where a challenging, but fair if in right spot, but if in the wrong spot I could easily 3 putt if didn't get it close with the first putt. On one hole(not sure exactly the hole) I didn't even try going over the lake once, and hit a 3 iron or 5 wood off the tee with the winds I had, and was left with about 155-185 yds or so to get it to the green. I have much to learn with this game to get better, but it's just going to take time, and good course management to score better than my skill set. I'm learning to leave my Tin Cup play at home in some situations, and play for par & let the birds come if they show themselves during my rds.
Thanks for the time you took in making this course for us all Squirrely

Bigt, I beg to differ with the unplayability of the 14th. The course design is worthy of a Ryder Cup venue and will require good course management to score well. It would appear that you are attempting te drive the pond some 267 yards to get to the fairway on the other side. With a brisk headwind, that is suicidal. To the left of the pond ( and to the right of the river Usk ) the fairway starts at some 130 yards out from the back tee. So with careful planning there is plenty of fairway to aim at which will give you a good approach to this not too long par 4 at 413 yards. So even with head wind you should still reach the green in regulatory 2.

The way we are playing here you might want to throw the clubs in the lake. If you throw the clubs in the lake, you might miss the lake.

Lovely course except for 14th hole. With any kind of headwind the drive is close to impossible. i have had +11, +13 and + 8 on breezy and gusty when hitting into a head wind.
ps have reached green in 2 with a tailwind!

Very nice course to golf on. Almost every drive from the tournament tees has a bunker to deal with. I used all my golfing options on this one. Shot placement is key. I like it when im not shooting -20 on 18. Great course TeeOffTowersey.

Please dont get me wrong TOT, the pano is superb, it was just the name that was ironic lOL. I was down for the Welsh Open a couple of years ago as its only an hours drive from where I live and I can vouch for the realism the pano brings. As also mentioned, I am lucky enough to be booked in a four ball in August, which I am really looking forward to.

Thank you all for the encouraging comments. It is good to see that you enjoy playing the course especially having spent literally many many weeks trying to get it just right. This course would not have been anywhere near its released state had it not been for Homeboys invaluable assistance in sorting out the problems I had. I take on ZBs comments that it is ironic having an English pano associated with a Welsh course. However the pano does realistically reflects the area around Newport, Gwent. ZB only needs to go onto the Celtic Manor site to see a similar pano in the course pics. Peter who lives near to the course gave me the green light to using this pano as a realistic representation. Enjoy.

Id like to take credit for the 2010 course, but congrats go to ToT for a tremendous rendition. :) Challenging greens and punishing bunkers make this a tough round. I really enjoy the back 9 in particular where the water comes into play, especially the 12th hole. Fabulous detail work throughout which sets this course apart from so many including the extensive fencing, the bridge over the road on 10, and the barns with the tractor trails. Love the gorgeous views of the countryside.
Great job, Lawrence. This is a keeper!

On the face of it, this course looks very good. I have to reserve judgement on the actual realism however, as I am not quite as lucky as macinrs, in that I dont get to play this course till August, due to the resort limiting play on the actual 2010 course, to 12 four balls per day and they are pretty much booked up for this year LOL. I do think it a shame (and hopefully the hardcore Welsh dont find it an insult lOL) that the pano used is called, English Countryside....its a tad like calling a Kiwi he sounds like a Wallabie!
Having said all that,. it is a nice rendition and plays well on my mc with FPS at between 40 and 55 on an HD 3970 card and core 2 duo processor.

I played this one on LAN/vdry/heavy/gusty/diff.
Very nice course, probably your best 08 to date ToT. I found 2 tees that had some roll off issuesƖ and 17), but they were not too silly.
Great effort, am considering using it on the Clambakers Tour for the designated tour stop for this course on the EPGA.

Let me be the first to say this is a really fun course.. The Fountains are a really cool add, and the layout is superlative. I always enjoy the new courses, and it has re-newed my interest in this game. If more games did this with thier titles, the world would be a better place!!! LOL
