Welcome to one of the most wide-open courses you will ever play ! This course does not have too many bunkers or high rough to give you fits. Instead, you have wide fairways and greens to enjoy along with a very nice panorama... only spoiled by the omnipresence of the official sponsors ! Quite a few holes will require you to hit your tee shots over the trees and water comes into play on a few holes as well, especially the 9th and the last 2 (by the way, good luck if you can birdie the 18th, a long par-4 over the water...). Variety being the spice of life, I will keep this one and play it again, thanks to Wizards' talent !

Yup, nothing wrong with this one, great job Rowan! Having played the real course a few times years ago, you have captured its spirit to be sure.

Anybody reading the last 3 comments on this course (from over 2 years ago!) may have been reluctant to download it for fear of their machine crashing. I just downloaded & played a full round with no drama whatsoever - everything ran as smooth as silk.
Many moons ago I had a book written by Gary Player, which was a big influence while I was trying to get the hang of the real game. Naturally, I wanted to check out his course & he didn't let me down. Neither did Wizards - another 5* from me...

Really dig this course...wide open fairways yet challenging approach shots make for a tough test. Really like the looks from the tees, great plantings...the par5 over the water, #9 I think, is a real beauty.

Hi Jakes, points noted, however its very difficult to do a 100% accurate rendition if you have very little data at your disposal. All i had to work with was an aerial shot and a couple of photos of some of the holes. Elevation data for South African courses is non-existant, there are no DEM files that one can use with a program called terrein assist which is used on a lot of the American real courses where they are able to obtain contour data. I have never been to Sun City so a lot of artistic licence was used here.

Hi Wizards, you have done a very good job. As a South African, it is sometimes quite frustrating not having any South African courses available for Tiger Woods, so it was really nice finding the Gary Player layout on this site.
I have one or two critisims though. The elevations arent always truthful in the game, especially holes 3, 6, 7, 15 and 18. Furthermore the pathway bridges on holes 9 and 18 are in the wrong place. Lastly the stroking is incorrect. In your game Hole 9 is stroke 1 whereas on the real course that honour belongs to Hole 8, for example.
Sorry for the critisims, as you have done a superb job. It would just be nice if some of these issues are rectified in a later version. Great design though!

What an awesome course Wizards. The pano is flawless! from tee to green is a challenge. The texture used and the terrain work come from a skilled architect. Keep up the great work, and thanks for this fantastic design Wizards!!

I agree with jurgie, this is hands down one of the finest customs Ive downloaded for TW2008, and I have over 200 of them. It rivals the stock courses that came with the game. This is a true masterpiece Wizards, thanks much.

Hi jurgie - there are galleries on every hole. Are you using the cls file that i packed with the course. This is a completely stripped out cls with only galleries, a few birds, divots and tees. If this is not working for you, you could try one of the stock cls files.

This course comes as close to a perfect design as I have ever seen. The textures, planting and course layout are absolutely superb. I think the most noteworthy thing is the fact that the course is completely rendered from the fairways to the hills. There are no drop-offs blank terrain which is often seen in a lot of custom designs. Truly first rate Wizards. One question I do have is that in the first version I was able to implement Galleries into the course, with this version I canot get them to work, any ideas? I know a lot of people hate them because they actually do look like something out of Night Of The Living Dead. As bad as they are, courses that use Grandstands look strange without people, not to mention that providing galleries creates a certain tournament atmosphere that just isnt evident otherwise.
