Another very enjoyable course from ron717, with that nice Laurel Ridge pano (small mountains and lakes) to admire, wide tree-lined fairways most of the times, a few elongated lakes and some small and/or sloping greens, at times. This par 72 starts with one of my favorite holes, the scenic dogleg par-4 1st, with the mountainous panorama in front of the tee box, an elongated lake on the left (with a... yellow seaplane floating near a big wooden lodge !), trees all along on the right side of the fairway, and a green, to the left. The right dogleg par-4 2nd hole is nice too as it follows the elongated lake all the way to the green, and is followed by the par-3 3rd, with a tee shot over a small lake and a couple of wooden lodges nearby. After the par-3 5th hole, with a small elongated lake on the right, short of the slightly-elevated green and its nice panoramic below, I like the right dogleg par-4 6th, with a blind tee shot over some trees on the right, an elongated lake on the left side and a nice view of the mountains as you reach the green, and the par-4 8th hole, with an approach shot over a small lake to reach the green, slightly to the left. You will finish the front 9, with the short (about 515 yards) left dogleg par-5 9th hole, where you should be able to putt for an eagle after reaching its slightly-elevated green. Coming back, my favorite holes are the left dogleg par-4 10th, with an elongated lake on the left, midway and ending near the green, the straight par-5 12th hole, with a long approach shot over a lake in front of the green, and the right dogleg par-4 14th, not difficult, but with a nice panoramic view as you hit your downhill tee shot. Finally, after the straight and "easy" par-3 16th hole, with its nice panoramic view, you will have one last eagle opportunity on the par-5 18th hole where, after a slightly uphill tee shot, you should be able to reach the green, slightly to the right, while making sure to avoid the small lake in front. Overall, if Bogart's Retreat is not the most difficult course you will ever play, it is quite scenic with its nice panorama and isolated wooden lodges, and challenging with those water holes, thanks to ron717 !

Very nice Ron. The challenge is in the greens! Tough, but fair. This is definately a retreat course! Thanks for creating this beautiful course!!

Replayed the course and did not have that glitch on #6 fairway again, so it must have been something on my end. My appologies for that one.

Ron out of all ytour courses this is my favourite, lovely to play. the fairways make you want to hit big ones! Well I had a look down the 6th fairway but could not see anything wrong Jurgie. so cannot comment on that.

A well thought out design with nice texture work. Although the pano compliments this course nicely, it sure seems to be a favourite with a lot of designers and maybe has been overused just a little. Couple of things to mention: On the sixth fairway appeares an interesting abnormality. Either water or sand seems to be spraying out of the middle of the fairway about three quarters of the way down the fairway. It almost looks like a broken sprinkler head. On very dry and difficult pins there are a couple of greens that border on almost unputtable. # 11 green comes immediately to mind. The slope is pretty severe on the left side of the green. This really becomes annoying when you are playing alongside computer players. What they will instinctively do on especially a severe downhill putt, is to putt uphill away from the hole and try to back it into the hole. Unfortunately they always seem to barely advance the ball and it usually takes them about 10 strokes to get it either in the hole or ending up finally conceding the hole. I know that this is an issue with the game itself but it might be food for thought for designers who create greens that are too severe. All in all though, this is still a very solid design.
