This Whitetail Country Club is a delightful course, with its pretty mountainous panorama, nice plantings and wide fairways, but it is also quite challenging with plenty of water hazards and bunkers (especially near the greens), making your approaches the key to scoring well. If the first three holes are mostly straight, the par-5 2nd is my favorite, with a downhill tee shot over a river, crossing the fairway midway (with a nice covered bridge to gaze at, on the right), and a long uphill and blind tee shot toward the small green, with an elongated bunker to watch for, in front (to the right). On the nice par-3 4th hole, you will have to be careful with your steeply-downhill tee shot, as an elongated bunker (on the right) and two smaller ones (on the left) await your tee shot with open arms, before moving on to the left dogleg par-4 5th, uphill all the way and with another elongated bunker on the left of the green. The par-4 6th hole, slightly uphill, is another left dogleg, and is quite pretty with a blind tee shot over deep rough in the middle of the fairway and trees (on the left), and a wide lake on the left of the green, and is followed by the nice, but very tough, left dogleg par-5 7th hole, with a tee shot over a wide lake and a head-scratching decision on your second shot, with another lake along on the right of the fairway and trees standing in the way (in the corner), if you want to try to reach its undulating green, with more bunkers around. Another very scenic hole is the par-3 8th, with a tee shot over deep rough and shrubs landing onto an undulating green, with a big pond on the left to be aware of. As for the left dogleg par-4 9th hole, you will have to change clubs first, as the default one is a lob wedge (!), before hitting your tee shot over deep rough and a few bushes (and making sure to avoid an elongated bunker in the left corner) and following up with a tough approach toward the green, with a big elongated bunker on the left, in front of the green. The back 9 starts with, what else... another left dogleg, the par-4 10th hole, with a blind and downhill tee shot over a wide ditch, filled with deep rough and shrubs (all the way across the fairway), and more bunkers below the elevated green to watch for. As if you did not have enough bunkers to worry about, the par-3 11th hole is here to remind you that you will have to hit another good approach to reach its elevated green, just like on the par-5 12th, with another elongated bunker in front of the green (to the left)… Then, after the right dogleg par-4 13th and its elevated green, the scenery changes drastically with the beautiful right dogleg par-5 14th, with a blind and uphill tee shot landing near a wide lake (on the right) and a very long approach toward the gorgeous peninsula green (surrounded halfway by a nice fence), with another lake behind. The par-3 15th hole is quite pretty, with a winding river (on the right), and tough, with a small green, surrounded halfway by a crescent-shaped bunker (on the left), unlike the left dogleg par-4 16th, with an easier second shot toward the green, despite a small pond (on the left) and another bunker (on the right). You will complete your round with the gorgeous par-3 17th hole, with a blind tee shot, hopefully landing onto its elevated green (surrounded by two big ponds “linked” to each other by a little creek), before breathing a big sigh of relief with the much easier left dogleg par-4 18th and its elevated green. With this Whitetail Country Club, Kevin Villette designed a course combining beauty and toughness, but you will definitely need to be patient and bring your A game if you want to master all those doglegs, and elevated greens, often surrounded by water and/or bunkers...

Exciting course and a top-notch design. No doubt about it - this is a driver's paradise! I think I only reached for the 4W twice from the tee (I prefer the 4 to the 3) and that was only due a strong tailwind. The main difficulty comes with the approaches, and that applies for most of the holes. Once you get through the opening few, there's some mighty tough holes on this track. Also the back 9 features some very tricky greens so getting birds is no walk in the park. That said (par 3's aside) on every hole you should be in a good position to attack, so it's a really fun course to play. Beautiful scenery and smooth gameplay adds to the great experience. A brilliant design, cheers!

Again a great work Kevin. Beautifully laid out and very nice designed. We test it with very hard conds, greens tricky but fair to play. Big fun and challenging course. We bring it up by esports tournaments. Iam sure many enjoying this great course too. Im agog with expectations how you will top it - but also sure you bring it soon. Thank you very much for you super courses and work - Kevin!!!

Fantastic course Kevin. Great designing technique in the use of a variety of textures and other course objects. Just a word of caution to any of you thinking of using computer players to join you for a round of golf on this course. They are going to hit some absurd shots during the round. On three tees on the front, both par 5s and one par four, the coputer made them hit LWs to the front of the tee area before hitting their second shots. Lol. Anyway, super job on the design Kevin.
