Another great course from Engineer, very pretty and quite challenging with some elevation changes, undulated fairways, doglegs around trees and/or water hazards, and a few tricky greens. On the front 9, my favorite holes are the right dogleg par-5 2nd, with an undulated fairway and an elongated bunker ending in front of the green (on the left), and the tricky right dogleg par-4 4th, with a tee shot flying past an elongated lake (on the left) and landing onto a narrow undulated tree-lined and sloped fairway, leaving you with a tough shot to reach its downhill green, partially hidden by a small mound (in front, on the right). On the scenic and risky par-4 5th hole, your tee shot will have to avoid a couple of small trees and deep rough in the middle of an undulated fairway and fall short in front of a small fence bordering a wide lake behind, over which you will hit your approach to reach its slightly-elevated green. Then, after the left dogleg par-4 7th hole, around a big lake lined up with trees, and its elevated green, you will move on to the short but very challenging dogleg par-5 8th, with trees on the left corner (and with a wide daisy-shaped bunker next to them), and an undulated fairway twisting to the left, then to the right (along a small stream), and with a blind shot downward to the green, hard to reach if you want to get an eagle opportunity. Coming back, you will face one of the toughest holes on this course, the pretty left dogleg par-4 10th, with a tee shot landing near a wide lake, and a blind approach over it, with trees further back, hiding the green, before walking over to the scenic right dogleg par-4 12th, downhill all the way with a serpentine and undulated fairway along a big stream (ending into a lake) and a nice approach over it toward the green, next to the lake (on the left). I also like the dogleg par-4 15th hole, bending sharply to the left around trees and with a lake (further to the left) and a big pond, near the green (to the right), and the left dogleg par-5 18th, with a slightly-uphill tee shot and with a few mounds, filled with deep rough and a couple of trees, scattered in the middle of the fairway, leading up to its slightly-downhill green, hard to reach on your second shot. With rolling hills as a panorama, and nice plantings all along, this par 71 looks “real” and if some of the par-3 holes seem relatively “easy”, you will have to watch out for the deep rough and trees on all the doglegs to fully enjoy your (ad)venture 08...

A course to fall in love with..... Enough variation, etc etc. I noticed "a lack of landscape" (no good English, I suppose)(there is a gap between the landscape in the front and in the background (who can this happen? I see it so many times in all the courses I downloaded), but that's a minor injury. Four stars rating.....

Something Ventured 08 is a solid design and more. Im really impressed at how much care went into making the course both realistic and challenging!
