This Second Nature course is a delightful surprise, with its hilly and beautiful landscape, its small ponds and lakes to watch for, and its strategically-planted trees, often hiding the views of the greens, making your blind approaches even more crucial. Needless to say, you won’t see any flat holes on this course : instead, you will face plenty of doglegs, starting with the right dogleg opening par-4, with a blind tee shot landing onto an undulating fairway and a tough second shot over some bunkers and a pond across (with an elongated lake on the left of the green), and continuing with the left dogleg par-4 3rd, with a blind and downhill tee shot landing next to a wide lake on the right, and an elevated green. Another left dogleg awaits you on the par-5 4th hole, with a blind and uphill tee shot, with four little ponds on the sides of the fairway to watch for, and another blind and uphill shot landing on a downhill slope leading to the green. I also like the two right dogleg holes, the par-5 7th, sharply to the right with a downhill approach flying over a big lake across, not too far from the green, and the par-4 8th, with a downhill tee shot, an elongated pond on the right side, midway, and an uphill shot to the elevated green. The back 9 is even tougher, after the first two holes requiring downhill tee shots over winding lakes (par-4 10th hole and par-3 11th), with the two nice left doglegs, the par-5 12th, uphill all the way, with its undulating fairway and a creek running down all the way from the green to the right of the tee box (with a few trees on the left, two-thirds of the way, partially hiding the view of the flag), and the par-4 13th, with a downhill tee shot, another undulating fairway and a blind approach downward to the green. Then, after the right dogleg par-4 14th hole, with an uphill tee shot and another blind and downhill shot to the green, you will face the scenic but rather easy par-3 15th, with a slightly-downhill tee shot and a nice panoramic view of a big serpentine lake behind with two small high bridges. The left dogleg par-4 16th is another pretty hole, with a downhill tee shot flying over a lake and an elongated bunker further down (and a green, set on a small plateau), and is followed by the challenging and beautiful right dogleg par-5 17th, where you should hit your downhill tee shot short of the meandering lake if you want to have a clear second shot over it to reach the green, before finishing with the left dogleg par-4 18th, downhill all the way with a nice panoramic view and a couple of ponds along the way. With this very enjoyable par 72, Engineeer designed a nice and challenging course where you will have to think twice before hitting your shots, unless it is a... second nature to you !
