Superb design, this is a killer links course and a design to match. Obviously a famous track with many wonderful holes - the best stretch for me is the four holes from the 8th to the 11th. And the finishing run is brilliant too. Loved every minute of it and score ok too (not one bunker - lucky day!) Smashing piece of work, kudos and cheers!

Nice links course ! As usual, bring in your towel as you will need it to wipe your feet once you end up in one of these deep bunkers spread all over the fairways and around the greens. The 8th hole is really tough and I love the 10th with those mounds forcing you to hit some blind shots. Not a big fan of the sea texture & color (too dark) but this course plays very nicely and is worth keeping.

larry86. I'm curious if you used the same layout as the 2004 British Open. I understand a course may change in that time, but since no other major has been held there since, or there is no other PGA Tour event of any kind, and I have trouble downloading course from anything other than TW2008, so i'm hoping this resembles what Troon looked like when the British Open was last year.

Thanks again you guys for all your comments.
In regards to the structures mentioned by Hyno Designs below - yea, this was my first attempt at making structures- and thus they were no doubt not done in the most efficient way. I have since managed to find a book on gmax and after just one hour of reading, I have already found ways to improve my structues (reduce size and polygon count) which should make my future designs better (and run smoother and faster).
Laying out Portmarnock as we speak (lots of good info/photos online). And I noticed Royal St. Georges has a much improved website with more pictures (there were very few online last year - at least that I could find) - but this will help, so after Portmarnock - might take a stab at Royal St. Georges.
Take care, Larry

Great course. This one stays on my hd. Im always hesitant to dl links style courses, because many of them lag, but this one plays great. Terrain work is fantastic and plantings and structures are perfect. Just like being there.

Congratulations, this is some kind of terrain work. The amount of earth that was moved and detailed is something that has not been seen. If you look at the overheads, you can just see craters of sand hills everywhere. The rough shaping in to the holes blended in to the weed rough, is genus. The course is as accurate as you are going to get. I loved the tee shot on #1. The look of #8 is so realistic, the tee shot is amazing, and if you have a chance when putting to look back at the tee it is really scenic. I tried out you hotel out on a course that has a lot structures it wouldn’t compile. Maybe have one of the 3D guy’s look at the structures to see if they can pull data out. Down the road if you want to add galleries and TV towers, it may be an issue. If not the course as is runs perfect. Honestly you should look in to Birkdale or St. Georges, even if someone else is doing it, those courses have this type of terrain, sand hills all over, with the rough blendings, it is all you.

Thanks for all your comments guys! Glad to hear people are enjoying the course.
Another designer has Royal Birkdale on his plate - and he does excellent work - so it should be available for this summers tours. My plan is to stay with another links course design but this time jump over to Ireland and do Portmarnock. Another classic design - hopefully I can do it justice. Ill eventually make the trek across the pond and do some American style courses - but there are just so many great links coures that really need to be done...
Enjoy, Larry

Best links course for TW since Royal County Down. A definite keeper. Sir, please do Royal Birkdale in time for The Open? Many tours would use it if it is as good as this one.

Phenomenal job, Larry. Its clear that a lot of time and effort went into this one ... with the rolling fairway undulations, excellent plantings, painstaking walking paths and the amazing structures. Great job with the postage stamp green ... love the blind tee shot on 10 ... and really love the hill to the right of the 6th green with the fence and overgrown gorse.
Best links course rendition done yet. A keeper for sure!
