With small wooded hills as a panorama, and more hills around the course, this par… 75 has only two par-3 holes on the front 9, and five par-5s overall ! Add some nice tropical plantings and a big serpentine river to cross on many holes, and you have a tough course on your hands with quite a few elevation changes. After an opening downhill par-4 hole, with a green, slightly to the left, and a big hill further behind, you will need two shots on the long (more than 630 yards) right dogleg par-5 2nd to reach the front of the river before attempting to get close to the green on your approach shot. The left dogleg par-4 3rd hole is not overly difficult, but it is quite nice with a tee shot over the river, a big bunker on the left, next to an undulated and slanted fairway, and an elevated green with a beautiful house and a swimming pool, behind on the left side, surrounded by a couple of hills. Two of my favorite holes are the picturesque left dogleg par-4 5th, with an approach shot over a small serpentine ravine, and the nice and short (less than 340 yards) downhill right dogleg par-4 6th hole, with a tee shot over a ravine, with trees hiding the green (reachable from the tee) and an ancient stone monument, further behind on the right. Another standout hole is the right dogleg par-5 8th, with an approach shot over the meandering river and a "Yucatan" pyramid-shaped structure made of stones on the left side of the green, and where you should have an eagle opportunity. The back 9 has some nice holes too, starting with the sharp left dogleg par-4 10th, with a short downhill tee shot next to the river and a gorgeous panoramic view overall, and the scenic and short (less than 300 yards) left dogleg par-4 11th hole, one of my favorites, with an elongated island green across in the middle of a serpentine lake (and reachable from the tee box !). The dogleg par-5 12th hole, with its serpentine river, can be tricky as you will need to hit a blind approach shot over tall trees in the right corner to reach the green, guarded by a small bunker in front (on the right), unlike the par-4 13th, slightly to the left, much easier with an approach shot over the river to reach the peninsula green. The straight par-5 15th hole is pretty straight but, because of its length (more than 630 yards), you will reach the elevated and sloped green only on your third shot over the river, whereas the right dogleg par-4 16th can be a little tricky with a few trees blocking the view of the fairway on the other side of the river. The last two holes are nice but relatively "easy" : on the dogleg par-4 17th, your tee shot will land next to the rocky alley leading to the pyramid on the right side, whereas the par-5 18th hole, slightly to the left, will require a short downhill tee shot, close to the river, and a very long second shot over it to try to reach the elevated green. With its unusual par 75, The Mystery course makes no mystery : you can forget about scoring in the low 60's, and with its challenging holes over water hazards, you will be glad to admire a few of the Mayan ruins left behind on this course, well designed by M.G.A. No Mystery here. This is a wonderful looking golf course. Great textures and overall layout. A lot of fun to play. You know what jimi, this one actually could be. LOL By the way, is that your house along the number 3 Green? Anyway, first rate my friend.
