Warning : this Pandora Pass does not look like the exomoon seen in the movie Avatar ! Instead, be prepared to walk a lot, steeply uphill and downhill, and hit plenty of blind shots before trying your luck putting on some very tricky undulated greens. The first two holes set the tone for what you will face, with two par-4 right doglegs, the 1st, with a downhill tee shot and a steeply-elevated green, and the 2nd, uphill all the way, with a blind tee shot toward an undulated green. You will then need to hit another blind tee shot uphill over a hidden lake on the par-3 4th hole, before moving over to the par-5 5th where, after a blind and uphill tee shot landing near a big bunker in the middle of the fairway, and another blind shot downhill, you will have to hit a very risky approach downward over part of a serpentine small lake to reach the green, set slightly to the right. Things won’t get any easier on the steeply-uphill par-3 7th hole, with two elongated bunkers in front and to the right of the green, and the left dogleg par-4 8th, with an uphill tee shot landing down onto a big sloped fairway (with big bunkers, on both sides). But the “best” has yet to come with the gorgeous but scary left dogleg par-5 9th hole, with a downhill tee shot landing short of a ravine (with a lake in the middle) and a very long second shot to get close to the elevated green, only reachable after with a short approach. You will start your way back with the right dogleg par-4 10th hole, with a downhill tee shot and an uphill approach to an elevated and undulated green, before walking over to the right dogleg par-5 12th, with an uphill tee shot landing onto a heavily-slanted fairway, and thin trees partially hiding the green, a little bit further, making it impossible to reach it on your second shot. Then, after a couple of more par-4 doglegs with heavily-slanted fairways (14th to the right, 15th to the left), you will face the pretty but tricky par-3 16th hole, with a tee shot flying over a small cone-shaped ravine (with a little bit of water at the bottom) and landing onto an elevated green, before finishing with two very risky holes, the short par-4 17th, downhill all the way with a small half-moon-shaped pond in front of the green above, and the very challenging right dogleg par-5 18th, downhill all the way with a tee shot over a big ravine and lake and a very long second shot to get close to the green. Despite its wide open look, with its sparsely-planted trees, this par 72 is very tough with plenty of steep elevations, and with its few well-placed water hazards and greens, very hard to read, this Pandora Pass course will definitely bite you if you are not careful, which is kind of normal, after all, considering it was designed by rhino... viper !
