With bare green land between the layout and the nice forest panorama, this course has a wide-open look with sparse trees planted around the fairways, but it is actually quite challenging with plenty of uphill approach shots, well-placed bunkers, a lot of water hazards, and a few small and tricky greens. The front 9 has a lot of tough holes, starting with the long par-5 1st, with an uphill tee shot followed by a blind second shot, a little bit short of the green, with a small pond on the right, and the left dogleg par-4 2nd hole, with a small elevated green with a bunker in front and a small river right behind. Then, after the "easy" par-3 3rd hole, with a tee shot over the river, you will reach one of my favorite holes, the par-4 4th, quite tricky with a tee shot on the left of the river and a blind second shot over it, with a small mound and trees, hiding the green on the right. It does not get easier with the very tough left dogleg par-4 5th hole, with a big mound right in the corner (and high weed rough not far below), and a very long uphill approach shot to the green, below a small hill on the right ! The par-5 6th hole is spectacular with a very long second shot over a wide lake to reach the green but, before you do, make sure to choose the right club to tee off if you don't want to get wet... If you do, then you will enjoy the par-3 7th hole, with a small green guarded by a 3 small bunkers in front, and the straight par-4 9th, with a tee shot over the river and a steep uphill approach shot to the green, with the nice clubhouse, behind on the left. The back 9 starts with the nice and tough par-3 10th hole, with a tee shot over a serpentine creek going around the right side of the green and a flag, on a very narrow hilltop, and continues with the sharp left dogleg par-4 11th where, with its narrow tree-lined fairway, you will have quite a challenging tee shot if you want to avoid hitting an approach shot through trees to reach the beautiful small island green ! The right dogleg par-5 12th hole is not a piece of cake either, with a big hollow bunker in the corner and a narrow fairway leading to the green, unlike the par-3 14th hole, not overly difficult, but quite pretty with plenty of high rough and bushes midway and a slightly-elevated green. The next two holes will require some serious thinking before teeing off : the straight par-4 15th and the left dogleg par-5 16th holes, need both a downhill tee shot, but with a deep small valley and a creek running below midway through, you could be in trouble if you choose the wrong club ; and, with a blind uphill second shot on the 16th hole, reaching the green to the left, partially hidden by trees, won't be an easy task either ! Then, after the short (about 320 yards) uphill dogleg par-4 17th hole, with plenty of trees in the corner hiding the green on the left side, you will reach the slightly-uphill left dogleg par-4 18th, with a tee shot over the river again, and an elevated green with nice yellow flowers "inviting" you to head for the clubhouse... Pine Meadows Golf Club is quite a challenging course where you need to be concentrated throughout if you dont' want to feel sorry at the end of your round. And with its well-designed landscape, thanks to krbushee, it is a definite keeper in my book...
