This Odyssey Canyon course is aptly named : why ? Simply because, on this par 72, you will embark on an adventure to complete your round (unless you have a “war machine” as a PC, it takes a long time to play it !), and to master all its challenging holes, with plenty of blind shots over dirt, rough, small mounds, deep bunkers, and... a very wide canyon on a few holes. Believe or not, the dogleg par-4 1st, along hills (on the left), is one of the “easiest” holes with its downhill slope all the way to the green, and is followed by the scenic par-3 2nd, with a green set on a rocky plateau. Things start getting tougher, with the dogleg left par-4 3rd hole, with a blind and downhill tee shot over deep rough (and a very narrow fairway, midway, with bunkers on both sides), and its slightly-elevated green, and the par-3 4th, with a small hilltop on the left, midway, and a little ditch in front of the green. But the “worst” has yet to come... On the beautiful short dogleg par-5 5th hole, bending sharply to the left with a huge rocky outcrop (in the inner corner), you will need to hit your tee shot over deep rough hoping to land it short of a wide canyon, before aiming a blind and long second shot over more rough upward to the green, set above the canyon (with a big bunker surrounded by deep rough in front, on the left, to watch for). The par-5 7th hole is even tougher, with hardly any chance of getting an eagle, as you will have to hit a blind and uphill tee shot landing in front of a wide canyon, before playing your second shot safely to the left (impossible to go over it !) in order to leave yourself with a short approach over a smaller part of the canyon to reach the green. As for the dogleg right par-4 8th hole, your blind tee will have to fly over deep rough, small mounds and a couple of small trees and land near more deep rough (in the middle of the fairway), if you want to have a decent and clear shot of the green. Needless to say, you will face more "exciting" holes on the back 9, such as on the par-3 11th, with a long and blind tee shot over deep rough downward to the green (surrounded below by more deep rough), or the par-5 12th, with a tough tee shot landing onto a narrow fairway, midway, with a big ditch, filled with more rough (on the left) and a mound (on the right), and a long approach toward the slightly-elevated green. You will enjoy another beautiful panoramic view on the dogleg right par-4 13th hole, after a blind tee shot over small trees and deep rough, as you reach its elevated green set above the wide canyon, before walking over to the picturesque par-3 14th and gaze at its flag standing out on top of its steeply-elevated and sloped green (with nothing but the sky behind). Then, after the dogleg left par-4 16th hole, quite challenging with a blind tee shot over a small mound landing down onto a narrow fairway (with slopes on both sides) and with a green at the bottom of a small basin (surrounded by high rough), you will face one of the toughest holes with the par-5 17th, with a serpentine fairway, winding its way around the canyon below (on the right) and a green, hard to reach with a very long and blind second shot. You will finish with the easier par-4 18th hole, with a blind tee shot over a few large mounds and deep rough, and a last uphill approach toward its small elevated green (with the canyon on the far right). With plenty of elevation changes and knee-high deep rough, this course winds its way around its spectacular Odyssey Canyon, and you will have to be extremely patient and accurate to avoid all the obstacles in your way if you want to break par on this very original and challenging BGravolicious’ design...
