I figured that I would try my luck downloading this Irish Sands 2008 v2 course, with the hope of enjoying it as much as I did, after playing plawlor’s beautiful Erie Cliffs (South), and TPC at Avondale (North and South) courses but, unfortunately, I ended up with mixed feelings on this par 72. Despite the unusual sights of this links course, with so many rolling sand hills and mounds filled with deep rough, not to mention its bunkers, of course, I did not like the pano, too bland to my taste, which, apparently, was added in this second version. On the front 9, I liked the downhill right dogleg par-4 2nd, with its elevated green, the par-3 3rd, uphill and with deep rough and bunkers in front of the green, and the two left dogleg par-5 holes, the 4th, with bunkers in the middle of the wide fairway, and the 6th, with deep rough splitting the narrow mound-lined fairway. The right dogleg par-4 9th hole is also worth mentioning, with a downhill tee shot, a narrow fairway and an elevated green. But the back 9 is nicer (with quite a few very wide bunkers) and tougher, starting with the right dogleg par-4 10th hole, uphill all the way, with a tee shot over a mound, filled with deep rough, and with two wide bunkers on the right, leading to a steeply-elevated green. The par-3 12th hole is also pretty with its tiny fairway, winding its way through deep rough all the way to the green, just like the left dogleg par-4 13th, downhill all the way with a very narrow green set between a huge elongated bunker (on the left) and small sandy hills (on the right), ending past the green. After the very short uphill par-3 15th hole (less than 120 yards), you will have to be careful with the risk/reward short par-4 16th, downhill, with another huge elongated bunker in front of the tee (ending near the elevated green), before moving on to the steeply-uphill left dogleg par-5 17th, with a blind tee shot over a big bunker in front of the tee (landing onto a wide fairway), and finishing with the right dogleg par-5 18th hole, with a downhill tee shot and a very long and challenging second shot if you want to reach the elevated green, with a wide bunker in front of it. If this Irish Sands 2008 course ran smoothly, I found it a little repetitive, at times, with a few similar doglegs, but if you can manage to keep your tee shots in the fairways, and avoid using your bucket and spade, then you might be... lucky enough to finish with a decent scorecard !
