With the magnificent Sedona panorama in the background, this course is nice, even though it is a little bit repetitive, at times. This par 72 starts with a big bang, as the par-4 1st hole, slightly uphill, has a big pond in the fairway (to the right), not far from the tee box, and a gorgeous panoramic view, especially looking down, as you approach the green. The left uphill dogleg par-4 2nd hole is quite nice too, with a big bunker in the left corner and a lake on the right side, whereas the par-3 3rd, despite its "relatively easy" look can be tricky with its slanted green. The next three holes look alike : the par-4 4th, the par-5 5th and the par-4 6th holes, are all doglegs to the right with uphill tee shots and a big bunker in the right corner with nice tree-lined fairways. After the par-3 7th hole, quite nice with flowers around the tee box and an uphill shot toward a small green, you will reach the par-4 8th hole, another... right dogleg (similar to the other ones), but with two bunkers in the right corner, before seeing a big tree planted in the lake (!) behind the green. The par-5 9th hole, on another hand, is pretty straight and has a lake on the right side, and a nice clubhouse behind the slightly-downhill green. If the front 9 has a lot of dogleg holes, the back 9 has more straight ones... after the right dogleg par-4 10th, a little bit tricky with its slanted green and meandering river around. The par-4 11th hole is "almost" straight with a big mound in the middle of the fairway and a lake to the right, and requires a blind second shot to reach the green. Then, after the straight par-4 12th hole, you will tee off on the short (less than 150 yards) downhill par-3 13th hole for a birdie opportunity, before facing the long and straight par-5 14th (more than 610 yards), with a nice green, surrounded by a small hill. If the par-4 15th hole will remind you of all the other uphill right doglegs, the... right dogleg par-4 16th, will offer you a different view with a downhill tee shot and a meandering river to the right of the fairway, flowing all the way behind the green. Last, but not least, you will finish with the nice and long (more than 620 yards) par-5 18th hole, with a wide and slightly-slanted green and a creek running all along on the right side of the fairway before reaching the green and the clubhouse behind. If Boise Country Club plays very smoothly, thanks to willie's design, it lacks a little variety, especially with the par-4 holes but it does have some nice and long par-5s to compensate and a great pano to look at...
