A beautiful links style course, designed by one of the (very) rare women designers, with a very nice panorama, with small green mountains and hills and a wide lake below, plenty of small mounds with deep rough along the undulating fairways, and with a few elevation changes and some doglegs, with small greens, surrounded by some well-placed small bunkers.
On the front 9, I like the par-4 2nd hole, with a blind approach to the elevated green, slightly to the right, and the left dogleg par-4 3rd, with a few mounds covered with deep rough all along the fairway (on the left), a blind and slightly-downhill tee shot and three small bunkers around the green.
The par-3 4th hole is quite scenic, with a small house on the right, near the tee box, and a blind tee shot over a meandering path in the middle with plenty of bushes and rough all along and a green, guarded by four small bunkers in front.
Then, after the long (more than 630 yards) right dogleg par-5 5th hole, slightly downhill all the way to the green (impossible to reach on your second shot), you will face the short (around 305 yards) par-4 6th, downhill to the green, but quite risky to reach with a small bunker on the left (in front) and a couple more, on the right.
The par-3 7th hole is pretty too, along a serpentine path on the left of the fairway, with its tiny green, surrounded by a puzzle-shaped bunker in front and three small bunkers behind, whereas the right dogleg par-4 9th is slightly uphill all the way, with small mounds on the left, and with bushes and deep rough across, splitting the fairway midway.
The back 9 starts with the nice par-4 10th hole, with gorse bushes on the right of the tee box, with a blind and slightly-uphill tee shot landing onto a rollercoaster fairway, and a downhill slope to the green, slightly to the right, with a nice panoramic view.
On the dogleg par-4 11th hole, sharply to the right, you can hit your blind tee shot over some deep rough and bushes to cut the corner to reduce the distance to the green on your second shot, before heading for the slightly-uphill par-3 12th hole, with a few bunkers to watch for.
Then, after the right dogleg par-5 14th hole, slightly uphill all the way, with a blind tee shot over some gorse bushes on the right of the tee box, and a small green, surrounded by four small bunkers, the next three holes are quite nice.
The par-3 15th is beautiful, with a blind and downhill tee shot over plenty of deep rough and some bushes all the way to the green (giving you time to gaze at the gorgeous panorama), whereas, on the left dogleg par-4 16th hole, slightly downhill, with deep rough again splitting the fairway midway, you will have to be careful with your blind approach to the small green with a small mound and three small bunkers in front, and to the right.
My last favorite hole is the right dogleg par-5 17th, quite picturesque, with the view of a small windmill on a hilltop (not far from the tee box, on the right) and the small mountains in front, and with two slightly-uphill blind shots, with more deep rough splitting the fairway halfway, and a small green, with three small bunkers lined up across in front.
You will then finish your round with the par-4 18th hole, slightly uphill, with two puzzle-shaped bunkers on both sides of the fairway, halfway, before heading for the nice clubhouse, behind the green, framed by a few trees and near the lake.
Overall, this Kilmarnock Golf Club is one of Stefanie2k6's best courses (even if I did not see any tree-lined fairways !) and, if you can avoid all those deep rough areas and small bunkers near (and around) the greens, you should enjoy this pretty par 72.
Good "loch" (as they - might - say in scotland...) !

Well, I think this is course, what a golf course should be!
Not to many trees, beautiful scenery; simply a Scottish course!
Just a pleasure to be there.
I rated it excellent.
Thank you Stefanie!

Thank you very much and I'm glad that you still enjoy playing this older design.
I used the 06 CA to design this one originally for the 07 game by using the "0 Foot CA Plot @ 1770x1700 Spec" file that Jevon made which allows the use of the older pre-07 panos. If I remember correctly, I had to raise the plots height a bit to allow the bunkers to show up properly. I raised the plot in about 3 sections when I discovered this and if I were doing it again, I would just use the two shape method and raise the entire plot by 10-15 ft. before starting on the design. I've never tried using the 0 foot elevation plot as the flat one needed for use with the TA for a real design before and I'm not sure if it would work or not. The file was originally found at the TWC site and not sure if it's here or not...I didn't see it but it is over at the http://www.24-hrgaming.com site under Tiger Woods 2007 Design Tools in the downloads section.

Thnx for reminding me, i had forgotten about this one. Played it again last night as well as the 07 version for a slightly different variation on a theme.

One thing i realised while coming back to this course was how a 2003 pano was able to show up in game. Both the 07 and 08 versions show the scotland pano with no problem????? Was this compiled with the 05 architect?

I have to say that this is one stunning beautiful course, that brings to life the feel of a links style course. Every hole is challenging and just awesome views. Only a few of links style courses have i enjoy as much as this. Has it all with the best textures, planting, playablitiy and course toughness to play over and over again. Who would ever know that this is a fantasy course. Super job on a course to always stay on my hard drive, Thanks for your effort and attention to detail, excellent+

I love Links style courses and this was a very nice one, but the constant stuttering pretty much ruined the feel for me.

Steph, this course is visually stunning. I havent seen a fantasy course that is this beautiful. Playability is great on this course is great. Very challenging, however, extremely fair, unlike most good fantasy courses. This course is a must for any online tour. Im going to recommend it to the directors of the clambakers for our tour.

I have to agree with the previous two comments. I can play all the rest of the custom courses with my in game settings at max, but this course and Irish sands I do have some lag. In my case it isnt all that bad, but it is enough to distract from the game.

I agree 100% with PhilTs comments. I have the same issues with plawlors Irish Sands offering. Great looking course, but laggy beyond belief. They both must have a common thread in their designs. A true pity, since I have enjoyed courses from both designers in past versions of the game immensely.

I have 2GB of ram, P4 3.0 and Nvidia 7600GT 256 card that plays all other courses flawlessly. Hmmm..........

This is a really lovely course to look at and the layout is good, the best pano I have seen! only one snag for me, it lags on my computer so badly, it spoils the game.

i have 1024 ram AMD sempron 2800 and ati 9600 256 card, which deals with most course but this one is a very slow runner
