A very nice course, with small mountains and wooded hills as a panorama blending in very well with the layout, with wide fairways, small elevation changes and quite a few tricky greens, with water hazards and well-placed bunkers to watch for. My favorite holes on the front 9 are the short (less than 320 yards) par-4 3rd, where you should not even think about trying to reach the green, with plenty of bunkers in front, and the right dogleg par-5 5th hole, with a tiny creek zigzagging all along the fairway on the right side, before crossing it, two-thirds of the way, and running past the green (with a big bunker in front) on the left. I also like the cute par-3 6th hole, with a serpentine L-shaped creek starting from across the fairway, midway, and running past the green on the left, and the left dogleg par-4 7th, with big trees to the left of the tee box, two elongated bunkers in the corner, halfway, and a small creek running all along (and past) the green, on the right. The back 9 is more challenging, starting with the right dogleg par-4 10th hole, downhill all the way, with a nice panoramic view from the tee box, a slanted fairway and two big bunkers on both sides of the green, the par-3 12th, with a tee shot over an inverted S-shaped lake, and the par-4 13th hole, with a slightly-downhill tee shot and a slightly-uphill approach over a small creek, not too far from the green. Then, after the left dogleg par-4 14th hole, with an uphill tee shot and a second shot downhill to the green, with a serpentine creek on the left, you will reach the pretty par-3 15th, with a small creek running all along on the left and past the downhill green, with three small bunkers on the left and a bigger one on the right. The last three holes are nice too : the par-4 16th is a right dogleg, with a serpentine creek on the right crossing the slanted fairway midway and a second shot over it to reach the green, and is followed by my favorite hole, the par-5 17th, where, if you are in a gambling mood, you may want to try to reach (on your second shot) the downhill (and beautiful) island green (in the middle of a wide lake), before completing your round with the par-4 18th hole, with a tee shot over a wide lake (mostly on the left) and another steeply-uphill approach to the undulating green. Cherry Hills Golf & Country Club is a very enjoyable course, well-designed by robc (with nice plantings and small wooden bridges), but I wonder why this 2008 updated version was changed from real (in 2007) to fantasy...

What a gem. This is an awesome design/course.. smooth as butter, looks terrific, challenging, honest, realistic, et al. Why only the 3.5 rating - obviously better judges than me out there. Top shelf in my library, cheers!

Nice one. It looks easy at first glance but the course is more challenging than you could expect.
