A beautiful fictional course, looking like a real one, with small rolling hills, nice plantings, and plenty of doglegs, with small mounds and a few well-placed water hazards, making your approaches to the greens, quite tricky at times. On the front 9, I like the two par-5 holes, the right dogleg 2nd, with a small mound all along the fairway (on the right) and over which you will have to hit your two shots to reach the undulating green (guarded by a small elongated pond in front), and the left dogleg 5th, with a tee shot over short trees below and a long second shot toward the green, hidden by more short trees (on the left) and with two bunkers in front. The right dogleg par-4 7th hole is pretty and challenging too, with a wide ravine (on the right) in front of the green, filled with a few more trees, just like the par-3 8th, with a small river running all along the fairway (on the left) and ending past the green, whose flag is really close to the water. As for the par-4 9th hole, it is a right dogleg, with a tee shot over a small serpentine river and an uphill approach to the green. Then, after the left dogleg par-4 10th hole, and its uphill approach to a steeply-elevated green, and the par-3 11th, with a narrow and downhill fairway, you will move on to another tough and pretty hole, the left dogleg 12th, with a tee shot landing between three bunkers (lined up on the left) and a small wide ravine, filled with trees (on the right), followed by a long second over it to reach the green. I also like the finishing stretch : on the right dogleg par-4 14th hole, your downhill tee shot will have to land past a big mound in the middle of a slanted fairway (and next to another small hilltop on the left) and a slightly-elevated green, before walking over to the par-3 15th, with a tee shot over a small lake right in front of the green, then moving later on to the right dogleg par-5 17th, with a tee shot over that small river again and a long approach toward the slightly-elevated green, with rough (on the left) and a bunker (on the right), and completing your round with the left dogleg par-4 18th, with a downhill tee shot landing past a small mound, midway, and an uphill approach to the slightly-elevated green (with the big clubhouse behind). Visually attractive, with its rollercoaster fairways and winding cart paths, this par 72 is quite enjoyable and was (at the time) a great way for Hershel Dirtwater to start his first TW08 design...

I did enjoy the layout & to correct my comments below all four of us had to chip in or concede holes.

We play expert & very dry every round. This course is not suited for this because holes 7 & 8 were impossible because of the 40 foot roll backs off the green. The only was was a miracle chip in for 9 for us. We did not finish because of the pins at unplayable angles on edges of greens. If you have never played expert & very dry then you have never experienced the green speeds we play.

Probably one of my favorites. Really, really dug the layout. Even the shorter holes make you think. No gimmes here.

Great work Herschel ...I loved the rolling hills and the plantings blended in seamlessly with the pano. Interesting layout and lots of great visuals on the course ... tee shot over the ravine on 7 and the tough hole 12 with the ravine on the right side of the fairway. The drive-able 16th was also a fun hole. And great work with those cartpaths ... I can appreciate the time and effort that goes into those! Im sure well be seeing this one in lots of tournaments this year.

One of my favorite designers returning for 08. Life is good. I agree eppie, so far these 08 courses are looking fantastic. I even think the stock 07 courses look better in 08 then they did in 07. Just my opinion. Thanks for this beautiful course HD.
