If you want to experience a very unusual round of golf, then you should try playing at Saint-Martin-des-Parcours ! This par 72 will transport you back to the Middle Ages, starting with the very picturesque right dogleg par-4 1st hole, with castles, old houses (not to mention a lake on the right side), beautiful ramparts with a church and more houses within... The par-4 2nd hole, slightly to the left, is pretty too, especially with that path leading to a beautiful castle behind the green. The right dogleg par-4 3rd hole, however, has no medieval houses to look at, but just a big lake on the right side and flowing across the fairway, not far from the green, just like the par-4 4th hole, where a meandering creek is flowing from the left all the way across to the right. The left dogleg par-5 5th hole takes you "back to the future" with a nice castle on the left of the tee box and ramparts beyond the elevated green, and is followed by the par-4 6th, where you will need to hit a blind approach shot to reach the downhill green. As for the two par-3 7th and 9th holes, they are not overly difficult but the first one has a sloped green and big bunkers on both sides, whereas the latter has a very nice panoramic view with the lake on the left side. The back 9 is quite different, bringing you back to the "modern" times, as the left dogleg par-4 10th hole will attest, with quite a few trees in the left corner blocking the view of the green, reachable from the tee box, less than 300 yards away. After the par-5 11th hole, with a tee shot over the creek and a very long approach shot to the elevated green, you will have a chance for an eagle on the short (less than 300 yards) par-4 13th, with a creek on the left side and a bunker in front of the sloped green. Then, after the slightly left dogleg par-4 14th hole and its rollercoaster fairway (and elevated green), you will reach the "cute" par-4 15th hole, slightly to the left, with a long and tiny bridge separating the fairway. The last holes are very picturesque : the slightly uphill, and to the right, dogleg par-4 16th hole has wide bunkers and high grass spread in the middle of the fairway, with an old medieval house on the right, just like the straight par-3 18th, with another nice little house on the right and a meandering creek behind the green. But the most visually-stunning hole on this course, besides the 1st, is the very short (less than 320 yards !) and sharp right dogleg... par-5 17th hole, with its downhill tee shot over a few trees and a gorgeous approach shot to the island green, accessible via a long and tiny bridge ! If Saint-Martin-des-Parcours is definitely unclassable, combining gorgeous medieval buildings on the front 9 with some very nice rollecoaster holes coming back, it is definitely worth playing and keeping, thanks to the great designing work and imagination of M.G.A. Hover...
