interesting update to my preivous comments on alignment with fairway; this no longer happens since i re-installed windows and tw2k4+1.1patch. i incidentally noticed the computer mis-alignment happened after i altered an .ini file to attempt to fix sound issues with another course(which was actually fixed by installing the 1.1patch). but when i played this course years ago i had the 1.1 patch installed so the only new thing i've done is re-install windows and re-download this course and install. still love it! it's all about these crazy greens. much more fun without grids too. thanks!

yea no it's number one now to me now, one year removed from my last comment. i played it for the first time installed in tw06 today and it got better. the grass and tree detail, the big difference from playing this in tw04' versus 06', really enhance it's beauty. i didn't realize before how hard this course really is on expert now that i play that more often (though it's more enjoyable at intermediate for working the ball). the greens are the teeth of this course, even at intermediate they stay lag-putt fast in very dry conditions. just so much intricate detail with the elevation changes that you see on only the best courses. it doesn't have vast hills like a kapalua or augusta, just tons of little ones, and it's brilliant. now that i have graphics capable of running tw 08' at max, i appreciate this course even more, it is one of the top performing courses, and to me better than st mellion 08'. hat's off to the creator and his other outstanding courses!

ok so i see the real problem (or pleasure) with the tee box issue...the computer opponents don't always automatically align themselves just before swinging...its entertaining to see what kind of shots they pull from other fairways or what I thought would be out of bounds. They always have one magical shot within inches unlike when they find trouble on #18 at highlands where they keep hitting (until they concede) the rock wall short of the tall green.

Forgot to mention sound...glad to see it's realistic with the quality birds and nothing annoying like a continuously howling wolf. Too bad there wasn't some background sound like wind or that static sound of being in the wilderness.

My personal favorite overall second to Augusta.

Even for my career golfer attempting to drive every green and tearing up most all courses used to shooting in the 40's even with strong winds and very dry greens and no mulligans, this is a serious challenge. Playing no power shots, no putting grids, no mulligans, i could only muster a 71 first time (couldn't sink anything or stay out of trouble). The only tougher 2 courses are highlands and predator (with strong winds-of course without winds all courses are sadly simple). Yes there are probably more difficult down-loadable courses, but they look quite fake. I prefer realistic looking courses.

An incredible design. The photos posted in the gallery are poor compared to the beauty and intimidation this course has. Narrow fairways made even more narrow by overhanging trees, hazards everywhere. The mounds everywhere, especially around the greens are nuts...more difficult than predator and highlands greens, since none of st. mellion's are even slightly flat, i was missing puts listed in inches.

Performance (frame rate) great for me, even considering my hardware won't run 07,08 or 09' tiger woods pga.

Yea the golfers direction on the tee box is unusual, but who takes a shot without inspecting the shot target anyway, even if it takes a few rotations.

Over 9.5 out of 10, super thrills even though its 5 years old now.

Hi

I was fortunate to play on the actual Nicklaus course at St Mellion over the weekend and this version really does it justice. Some of the holes have much steeper gallery banking down the sides of the fairways in real life and the par 3s over the water are really quite intimidating.

The only gripe I have is that the golfers do not seem to point in the right direction on several of the holes. Hopefully the architect will upload a version that corrects this as thi is a great course and is now on the European Seniors Tour.

Cheers

Hi

The course is great but why, on several holes, do my golfers face the wrong way on the tee? This is not a problem for human players (we just move the figure around) but it plays havoc with the scores of computer controlled golfers.
