With nice hills as a panorama, beautiful plantings, pretty brick houses and “cute” giant dice as tee markers, this par 73 is pretty to look at, and tougher than it looks, as you will have to hit good approaches to reach the (often) small greens, but if you can manage to birdie (or eagle) the shorter par-5 holes, especially on the back 9, you should be able to break par. If the first three holes are doglegs, I like the dogleg left par-5 2nd hole, the most, with its green, reachable on your second shot but quite tricky with three bunkers and a big pond (on the left). The dogleg right par-4 3rd hole, with a big pond (to the left, in front of the tee box), is uphill all the way and with bunkers in the inner corner, making the fairway quite narrow in the middle, and is followed by the par-3 4th, uphill again, and with a large bunker in front of the green (to the left) to watch for and, later on, by the pretty par-3 6th, with a green, guarded in front by a wide bunker (on the left) and a big triangular-shaped pond (on the right). You will then face the dogleg right par-4 7th hole, with two small bunkers, lined up one behind the other, in the middle of the fairway, before hitting your approach to a slightly-elevated (and bunker-free !) green, and continuing with the dogleg left par-4 8th, with bunkers, midway in the inner corner and a big pond (on the right), making the fairway quite narrow, before firing your approach toward a slightly-elevated green. But the most scenic and difficult hole on the front 9 is the beautiful dogleg right par-5 9th, slightly-uphill all the way, with a tee shot over part of a wide lake (on the right, and facing a big pond near the tee box), and an elongated bunker parallel to an elongated lake, in front of the small green (to the right), making your approach very risky if you want to get an eagle opportunity. On the back 9, I like the dogleg right par-4 11th hole, slightly-uphill all the way and with an approach over a small creek, crossing the fairway, and the dogleg left par-5 12th, with its blind and uphill second shot with a big elongated bunker in front of the green (to the left) and four smaller ones behind (on the right). The next few holes are “easier” (dogleg right par-4 13th, with a blind and downhill tee shot and an elevated green, short and straight par-4 14th, with an elevated green, straight par-4 15th), before walking over to the straight par-5 16th hole, slightly-uphill all the way and with a long approach over a small river, crossing the fairway in front of the green. Last, but not least, after the par-3 17th hole, you will finish with the dogleg right par-5 18th, along trees (on the right) and uphill all the way to the green, reachable with a long approach. Well-designed by rlslay, this updated version of the real Gleneagles Perthshire Scotland 2017 course is quite enjoyable, and with its elevation changes and water hazards, you will need to be patient, at times, if you want to enjoy your round, even though the bunkers are not as deep as some other and tougher Scottish courses...

Thanks Bob, yes, you can still download 09 version. The updates are, different texture, changed panorama, change some pin locations, did some smoothing in places that I could and fix couple bunkers and seems.

Do have the 2009 version, haven't played it for a while so not sure what has been updated, but 2017 is a fine-looking course with a very fair 3 levels of rough around most of the fairways, which I really liked being I get there a lot... Greens rolled nicely on dry, and overall I had a fun time. Thanks, rlslay, for another challenging but playable course, appreciate your touch on these courses.
