I was first entranced by the mountains, they are real. And although some folks like fantasy courses because they can be close to unplayable, I like fantasy courses that mirror real courses, courses that can challenge you but are intended to allow the golfer to win if he/she plays well.I found Briar Ridge II to be exactly that course, long, requires good shots, but doesn't penalize those good shots. Thanks rlslay, as always. You amaze me.

Nicely done looks good if not the most difficult, but on advanced or expert with tough settings enough of a real fun challenge, many thanks again Rob keep them coming :)

This course is stress-free and pleasant to look at with its panorama of small green mountains, but not too challenging with plenty of wide (and often) undulating fairways and greens (despite quite a few well-placed bunkers on a couple of holes). Believe it or not, six of the first seven holes are dogleg par-4s (except for the straight and slightly-downhill par-4 2nd), with three of them in a row, bending to the left (4th, 5th, 6th), before walking over to the dogleg right par-4 7th, with its undulating fairway and elevated green, a little bit hard to read with its gentle slope. You will then move on to the par-3 8th hole, with its elevated green, surrounded halfway by bunkers (to the right and behind), before facing the tough dogleg left par-5 9th, with a steeply-downhill tee shot through a small gap between trees, and a slightly-elevated green, reachable on your second shot for an eagle opportunity. More undulating fairways and slight elevation changes are in store for you on the back 9, along with a couple of challenging holes, like the dogleg left par-5 12th, with quite a few small bunkers, spread everywhere along the fairway, making your tee shot crucial if you don’t want to end up in one of them (and spoiling your chance for an eagle shot), and the dogleg right par-4 16th, with an elongated... lake, midway (on the left) to watch for, and a slightly-elevated green. But, overall, if this Briar Ridge II course plays smoothly, it does not have the visual attractiveness and difficulty often seen on a lot of rlslay’s designs, which is why it is not one of my favorites... even though it is nice to finish way under par, once in a while !
