If this par 72 is misnamed with the hills looking more like mountains to me, it is, nevertheless, quite interesting and tougher than it appears, at first glance, with plenty of water hazards and a few well-placed bunkers to test your skills. On the front 9, water comes into play on quite a few holes, such as on the straight par-4 1st, with a tee shot over a serpentine creek, crossing the undulating fairway and flowing along to the right, and an uphill approach to the green, and the nice par-3 3rd, with a tee shot over a boomerang-shaped lake and with a big elongated bunker in front of the wide green to watch out. Two scenic holes follow, with the tough dogleg right par-4 5th, with a tee shot through a small gap between trees leaving you with a risky approach toward the green (set next to a big lake in front), and the dogleg right par-4 6th, with plenty of water branching out around the fairway and its large island green. The par-3 7th hole, along a lake (on the right) is quite challenging too, with a blind tee shot over tall trees, hiding the green, just like the par-5 9th, again hugging a lake (on the left) and with a green, reachable on your second shot, if you can avoid a big elongated bunker set in front and to the left. The back 9 is not as tough with wider and undulating fairways, but it still has a couple of nice dogleg right holes, like the par-5 11th, with a long and risky approach to a peninsula green, with a lone tree partially hiding the green further back, and the par-4 12th, along a serpentine lake (on the right). Then, after the dogleg right par-5 15th hole, with a small creek branching out in front of the green, reachable on your second shot, you will move later on to the pretty dogleg left par-4 18th, with a tee shot flying over a little bit of water linking two lakes (left and right), before firing an uphill approach to the green. Overall, if this Coco Hills GC plays smoothly and looks nice with Hyno Designs’ pano, it is not the toughest course ever created by rlslay, but you will have to be careful with your putting as a few greens are hard to read with little slopes around the cups, if you want to break par.
