I have to say, for a golfer like me that focuses on tee to green without noticing much else, the first thing I noticed was all the great plantings around the back of the first green - at least I hope it was the first! Just delightful. Course is great, heavy rough with the water make it challenging, but if you hit the fairways you can score well. Thanks again, rlslay, another gem. Makes the favorites list for sure!

A visually attractive and delightful course, overlooking a valley and with abundant vegetation, quite a few water hazards and strategically-placed bunkers to avoid, not to mention some greens, with a gentle slope, hard to read sometimes. The front 9 has a very pretty and challenging four-hole stretch, starting with the nice par-3 2nd, with a tee shot over a small lake in front of the green (and to the right), followed by the straight par-5 3rd, with an elongated lake, starting two thirds of the way (on the right) and ending next to the green (on the right), the scenic par-3 4th, along a lake and flowing past the green (on the left), and the short dogleg left par-4 5th hole, along another lake (on the left) and with a slightly-elevated green. The dogleg right par-4 7th is another beautiful hole, with a tee shot over an elongated lake landing between bunkers onto an undulating fairway and a second shot toward a sloping green, just like the tough dogleg left par-5 9th, with a tee shot landing between bunkers on both sides of the fairway, midway, and next to an elongated lake, ending near the green (on the left), hard to reach on your second shot. A long dogleg right par-5 10th hole awaits you on your way back, along rows of bushes and small trees (on the right), and with quite a few bunkers all the way to the green (mostly on the right), before facing the par-3 11th, slightly uphill and with a tee shot over deep rough and between small trees, then walking later on to the other par-3, the 13th hole, with a huge elongated bunker, starting midway and ending next to the green (on the left). Two scenic holes follow with the dogleg right par-4 14th, slightly downhill and with a river winding its way (on the right) past the green, and the dogleg left par-5 15th, back the other way, along the serpentine river (on the right) and with a blind and very risky second shot if you want to reach the green, with the river crossing in front of it. You will complete your round with the par-5 18th hole, downhill and along plenty of trees (on the right) and with a green, slightly to the right, before admiring a nice clubhouse behind. With its pretty panorama and, at times, challenging risk/reward tee shots and/or approaches to the greens, this Canada Open will have you sing “Wow, Canada”, thanks to rlslay’s nice imagination and design !
