Using that well-known gorgeous mountainous panorama, designed by Bob Hiker, rlslay came up with another beautiful and challenging course, with nice palm trees and sandy areas surrounding quite a few undulating fairways, and some water hazards that will require precise shots if you want to score well on this par 72. After the dogleg left par-4 opening hole, with its rollercoaster fairway and a blind and uphill approach downward to the green, you will walk over to the wide open dogleg right par-5 2nd, with a nice panoramic view as your tee shot lands between an isolated tree, near a big pond (on the right), and three bunkers (on the left), before hitting a long, uphill and blind second shot toward the downhill green. Then, after the par-3 3rd hole, and two par-4 doglegs (4th, to the right, 5th, to the left) with elevation changes and blind shots, you will see water for the first time on the par-5 6th hole, with a tee shot over an elongated lake, landing near bunkers, spread on both sides of the fairway, midway, followed by a long approach in the direction of the green. The next three holes are pretty : on the par-4 7th, you will have to hit your tee shot over a big lake, landing near another big lake (on the opposite side, on the left), before firing a risky approach to its peninsula green, set midway, just like on the bare, but scenic, par-3 8th hole, with its tee shot flying over a wide lake and offering a beautiful panoramic view of the valley and the mountains behind. You will finish the front 9 with a par-4 hole, with an undulating fairway, set between (and along) two lakes, and a green, slightly to the left. The back 9 is “easier” but has some nice holes too, as you will find out with the pretty par-4 12th, with a tee shot over an elongated lake, ending behind and around the green (to the left), and the straight par-5 16th, with a tee shot over an elongated lake, ending midway, and its slightly-elevated green. As for the very short and straight par-4 17th hole, you should be able to reach its green from the tee box and have an eagle opportunity, before finishing in style with the picturesque dogleg right par-4 18th, around a huge lake, and its slightly-elevated green. With quite a few elevation changes requiring some blind shots, and water hazards, hard to avoid, at times, you will have be patient and think twice before hitting some of your shots to fully enjoy this Sedona Open, well-designed, once again, by rlslay...
